I got an ad at the swap in the "wanted" section, but I don't think its getting much traffic.

So, if anybody's got any from a "part-out" or whatever, let me know what you want for em.

Saintly, I don't know the size, but what I did was go to the town auto parts store (not at all like Auto Zone or the like, more like NAPA) and asked for some allen heads the same thread length, and washers. It seems I'm always in need of one or two. For what you'd spend at the dealership for five you can get a handfull of these and always have some on hand. The only place I have the stock ones are the ones on the "tank"

What Glitch said.

Half the time I end up going to Lowes with the fasteners in hand and start tearing through their stuff. I've always been able to find a suitable substitute.

I also just scored a box full of XB take-off hardware on Ebay - about 3 pounds of mixed bolts, connectors, axles - all that sorta stuff - and would probably still prefer conventional pan-head fasteners to the ones that come stock since I have my bodywork off so many times.

If you can't find something at your local hardware store, shoot me a PM - but see what you can find locally.

Thanks Guys,
I thought about going that route since they are just 1/4" X 20 thread, but they have a built in shoulder under the head.

The shoulder does two things, first it "centers" or "locates" the plastic, which is why the plastic has that large 11/32" hole for the bolt to pass thru, and secondly it "bottoms out" the bolt before any pressure can crush and damage the plastic.

I'm not saying that I'm an over-zealous tightener type of guy, but I'd rather let the nylon washer put the tension on the body panel, rather than risk "crushing" it if I did over torque by accident.

So, I guess I'm just going to keep on searching for replacement original type bolts.

Thanks for the input though.
