Last summer, i was the victim of a drive-by paintballing. Just Wednesday, a friend of mine called me up cussin' because he too had been the victim of such an event just this weekend. did i mention we were both on our bikes?!?!

it seems that it's a game that kids like to play now. knock the guy off his bike with a paintball gun. the ones that got me had doo-rags on their heads and their pants around their knees. they were 11-14 and spoke fluent jive....
this is what they learn in public schools.

be on the lookout, and keep yer pieces handy. i wish i was left handed so i could put my 1911 on my left hip instead of the throttle side. Haha!

Get the plate number. Paint ball assults carry very stiff charges in most states.

If you're wearing proper gear, it should't even faze you - other than the initial shock and surprise.

Firing a paintball gun at a person that isn't wearing proper paintball protection is considered a felony I believe (assult?)

I remember reading all that when I bought mine. There are also laws about what kind of propoerty you can shoot at and how far you have to be from houses and other buildings.

...and cleaning that "gunk" out of perforated leather would suck bad! Not to mention a helmet hit would likely negate any liability for future use from the manufacturer.

My buddy decided to "plink" at his p.o.s. car....
..first shot completely destroyed the side marker/signal lamp, inside and out. $5 at the junkyard fixed it, but I hate to imagine what it might do to an oil line

Seriously, if they pulled that on an off-duty or plain clothes LEO, they would be liable to get return fire. Last I checked lead was more dense (denser?) than paint.

Some jerk in my apartment complex was taking pot shots at me with a BB gun as I walked the dog. I own a lot of airguns and could tell it was some form of C02 pistol. I knew where it was coming from. Shots wizzed past my head and later bounced off a fence I was walking beside. I calmly went inside, grabbed my Colt, and waited for 'em to try it again. That crap is uncalled for.

The only other time something like that has happened to me is as a young kid. On my skateboard some older punk kid on a bicycle drenched me with a water bottle. I chased after him but he got away. It was a hot summer day anyway but I sure wanted to teach him a lesson.

That kinda crap totally gets me in a rage.

Drive-by vandalism seem to a new fad these days.

There've been teens that've decimated almost entire lots of car windows with BB pistols in this area.

I had this same discussion with two TN LEO friends of mine. They both quickly classified it as 'simple assault.' Our discussion was about shooting pedestrians, not motorcyclist. I would imagine the charge would be increased in the above scenario due to the intention of causing serious bodily harm, ie, felony assault. I hope they're caught and their little juvenile delinquent asses are thrown in jail. Try explaining to the other inmates that you're there for shooting paintball guns at people. They'd be bent over faster then you can say 'prison rape.'

If you're wearing proper gear, it should't even faze you - other than the initial shock and surprise
I used to play paintball. Believe me, visibility drops to near zero when you catch one on the face shield. Imagine going instantaneously blind on a motorcycle in traffic at 50mph? Protective gear or not, I believe that is a life threatening behavior.

To paraphrase Sean Connery in the Untouchables: "Just like a thug to bring a paintball gun to a gunfight."

I was visiting my Dad's place when several kids started firing bottle rockets/roman candles at me. I thought I'd just ridden into a combat zone.. Scared the crap out of me and I think I was lucky to make it into his driveway. I remember something thunking off my lid as I moved into the carport.. Once inside I looked out and saw three or four little wanna be gangstas lining up to take shots at my bike I suppose.. I put an end to it by stepping out the door and racking a Remington 870. Street cleared in no time.

A bout a week later, Dad told me about a car that caught fire and burned not two blocks from his place.. Turns out someone playing with illegal fireworks had 'accidently' lobbed on into an open window and caught the interior. The parents of course, were shocked that Jr. was messing with such things.. had no idea how this could have happened and yada, yada yada..

you got these kids who get caught up in the middle of something and when it goes bad the parents want to blame someone else except themselves for not being there to begin with.

A lack of personal responsibility is plaguing the entire country. That's how people end up with no savings and $15,000 in credit card debt. I read the other day that the average American now carries 10 credit cards!

I saw credit report for a guy the other day with $60K on credit cards, and he thought that was just pretty normal! The most I've ever seen was a couple that had $117K between the two of them.

You know what all of them have in common?

They think its the credit card company's fault, and they have punkass kids.

We have the shoot first law in florida..

Use of deadly force when a person reasonably believes it necessary to prevent the commission of a "forcible felony." Under the statute, forcible felonies include "treason; murder; manslaughter; sexual battery; carjacking; home-invasion robbery; robbery; burglary; arson; kidnapping; aggravated assault; aggravated battery; aggravated stalking; aircraft piracy; unlawful throwing, placing, or discharging of a destructive device or bomb; and any other felony which involves the use or threat of physical force or violence against any individual. " [ 1]

The Florida law authorizes the use of defensive force by anyone "who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be." Furthermore, under the law, such a person "has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony." The statute also grants civil and criminal immunity to anyone found to have had such a reasonable belief.[1]

I live near Atlanta and I am an avid paintballer. Anyone who does such a thing should be prosecuted. They are giving a bad name to paintball- They are horrible ambassadors to the industry, just like squids who are reckless on their bikes.

I normally play paintball in as little as a t-shirt and jeans, but these guys probably turn their velocity up with intention to hurt someone.

If you are an ATGATT follower, the sound of paintballs hitting you should affect you more than the impact-- try and stay calm, get their license plate, and put their punk asses in jail. It's where they want to be anyways...

It sounds like they have a more realistic Rules Of Engagement then I had in Iraq.

Wisconsin's def. of deadly force - the intentional use of a firearm or other instrument, the use of which would result in a high probability of death.

Imminence
that which has caused or imminently threatens to cause serious bodily harm to themselves, you, and or others.

Criteria for use of force DEADLY force-
Weapon, Intent, Delivery System

Last I checked, getting shot in the face (splatter from the paint in the eye as well) while driving a motorized vehicle of ANY type would result in a high probability of serious bodily harm and or death.

A kid pointing a paintball gun at me while driving/riding would meet all criteria for getting shot.

And what would I tell the judge and jury?
"I was in fear for my life, all I saw was a firearm. I have never had any experience with a paintball gun. What do they look like again?"

Too bad Wisconsin doesn't have concealed carry...*$&#!

My head is going to explode. I hate hearing about assholes shooting paintball guns around homes and people. I've been playing paintball for almost 15 years and have never fired one ANYWHERE except the fields I pay to play at.

If this was the united states of mark you could return fire if fired on by these guys. It's not always kids riding around shooting cars, signs and people.

Buellerandy, I don't think you would even have to mention that you have no experience with a paintball gun. An armed person trained to react defensively is going to see a gun, hear a report, and return fire if possible. There is no thinking or reasoning involved in this reaction. This is an oversimplification, but I think makes the point.
