Would it be easier to insure these events if sanctioned under a reputable racing body?

I was thinking of a Southeastern series but started to wonder why BattleTrax is something the AMA would not support.

Is there rules, and layouts available somewhere? I was thinking of organizing one for a club I am in - some entertainment.

Exactly. I would love to be able to do something that feels more like a coached track day, but where I never go faster then 35 mph, and spend most of my time far slower. And all you need to host it is an open parking lot and some bathrooms... you don't need a track.

I could do it with my (good quality) street gear (instead of having to buy full one piece leathers) and if the course was expertly set up, my biggest risk is probably a low speed low side.

Include some emergency breaking into it as well, and keep it all "personal best" timed non competitive stuff.

Near here is the Gwinette Fair grounds. The parking lots are so big they have a track set up for car races, kind of a BTrax for tuners. Also in the upper parking lot is a BTrax already set up, well kind of. It's where the Lawrenceville Police do their Motorcycle Training. Those guys rock! You should see 'em doing the Close Counter Exercises.

At home I have the PDF that Reg posted up at the old Battletrax.com website. I've already sent it off to several Badwebbers seeking a copy. It's basically a "How-to" manual with what you'll need, resources, etc. Most important thing is a skilled, trained "Battlemaster."

btrax seems like a lot of fun even in a car.

I wish I had this car and his skills (video)

Was that Russ Swift? He does that kind of stuff and some creative parallel parking too.

It would not be the same without a gray haired elderly gentleman yelling . . "what are you STUPID?".

Oh wait????. . I **AM** a gray haired elderly gentleman!

I contacted a couple of local SCCA chapters to see if they'd let bikes run -- the whole idea horrified them . . .

too bad, as B'trax is such big, lo-threat fun

The SCCA model would seem to work.

Reg has all the manuals you will need.

BUT

Unless you are a certified Battle Master I suggest you get one or call Reg.

Setting up a BT is not something you can learn from a book or PDF.

You need a "touch" to set up a BT course not only to keep it competitive but safe.
