I can tell you Bluetec is coming, I can't tell you much more. : ) Although the 3.0L CRD (non-Bluetec, 45-state) is available in the Grand this year.

Diesel would allow about a 400 mile range. That would be a great boondocker vehicle.

Wait for the Bluetec. I forgot what the specs are but three liters and 376 ft/lbs of torque rings a bell. The 2.8 liter CRD in my Liberty performs very well and gets great fuel economy, 20 to 22 around town and 25 to 28 highway. 5,000 lb. tow rating. IMO the new gen diesel are the way to go. Hold out if you can, you wont be sorry.

}"every man needs a truck"
I say every woman needs a truck. I love my F150 FX4 4X4 supercrew.
I've only owned trucks for the last 18 yrs.

i've had 1, 2, or 3 jeeps at a time over the last 10 years - cherokees and wranglers - all heavily modified for off-road use and rockcrawling. rollcages, detroit lockers, winches, snorkels, etc.

they're a riot, fun to modify, and great to play outdoors with. get one - they aren't practical really for anything...but they are tons of fun. and you'll be joining a very buell-ish cult, though one with more posers than the buell crowd.

Still waiting on them to bring back the Scrambler CJ 8 or a reiteration of it, Company in Mt doing it, but at a heavy price tag. Spend a couple of summers sand surfing behind one on a tow rope. The jeep crowd is avid, only thing that comes close is maybe the VW crowd for their cult following

For those who are familiar with Project Teal-J, we are thinking of converting it to an AEV Brute. If it pans out, it should be pretty cool! Especially since we stuffed a Hemi in it. We need the longer Brute wheelbase because the thing does wheelstands as it is (we bent a Dana 44 front from landing, now we have a Dynatrac 60 up front). Scary+Fun=more fun!

a jeep that does wheelies, thats just cool!

sean, what are your feeling's on the 4-dr wrangler. we've had several wranglers and loved them all, switched to an explorer when the baby arrived.

wife is just itchin to dump the explorer now that the 4dr jeep is out. just waitin out the beta tester year. they look awfully heavy but maybe it's just me. how's the v6 compare to the old 4.0.

They are heavy and a bit underpowered, especially the 4-door, but not as bad as the H3. For having a thin fiberglass top, they are amazingly quiet, and if you have driven Wranglers before, you'll know the seating position right away, but there is suddenly more elbow room and the interior is nicer, plus you gotta like power windows and door locks. The 2-door is superior to the 4-door off-road, in handling, fun, etc. But the 4-door makes for a nice highway ride, and good climbing characteristics. Like I said, I am picking up our new project Unlimited late this week or early next week, and we have a baby on the way too, so it'll be my new driver and family hauler. Are there better vehicles out there? Sure. But if you like Wranglers, this is as good as they get - especially if you like taking the family on the trail (or need a machine that can pull double duty, family hauler and trail rig). The new V-6 revs higher, but I am getting mine with the 6-speed to make the most of it. You'll miss the low-end of the 4.0, but the 3.8 is so much nicer to pass with.

Rumor has it that the 4.0L out of the Nitro is coming, so that might be worth the wait...

If they would just bring the Scrambler back I'd be good to go.

Hey Wolf, I have already made the arguement for that tot he people in Auburn hills that matter. The Gladiator was officially cancelled, I am hoping they are looking for other models to use on that chassis. 106-110-in WB would be pefect.
