Last night around 7pm while walking the dog I saw the first sand/salt truck drive by my house. An hour later the driveway is a sheet of ice...Woke up this morning, White roads and sandy as all hell EVERYWHERE! This Sucks!!!!

Looking like I will not be ridding again till the sweepers come around in spring....or I leave for MBIV....

sigh...... I am sad....

I'm regretting moving from Phoenix to Albuquerque last year. it was nice until this last storm dropped 16.5" on us.

My sentiments towards winter:

Who said it doesn't snow in the desert???

So, uh, I shouldnt discuss the weather down here in South Texas huh?

If its any consolation, I am not riding anyway, between the new shop, and needing to rebuild the motor, and a fwe other things...

If it makes you feel any better, it was almost 80 here in Central Florida today. But wait....it may rain today.

Happy New Year!

Hey, in Seattle it was not windy or wet and I finally got the XB out today (Sunday). Sure was cold, but then we Buell riders don't notice the cold, right?

While riding through the Santa Monica mountains around Malibu on the way to the Rock Store this morning for the ceremonial last ride of the year, I expected it to be a little chilly. But on Cold Canyon Rd (aptly named), between Piuma and Mulholland Hwy, my fairing temp gauge actually read 30 deg F! It was cold enough that in some corners where the road was damp and in shadows, it must have been slightly icy because the front wheel sidestepped once in an easy turn.

Later when I got home and was cleaning the bike, one of my fingertips felt like it might have been frostbitten, i.e. slightly purple and swollen. So, take it easy out there when the temps plunge and test for traction if in dubious conditions.

Bart-
I feel with you, yesterday it was 50, this morning it is windy, 1" of snow and 28. I was hoping to go for a New Year's day ride.

Sometimes I regret not following up on that job offer in Phoenix a few years back.

Right now, there's glaze ice on my driveway, and it's raining. I won't be going out for my New Years Day ride. So I've been out in the garage pulling the exhaust off to have it Jet Hot coated.
Winter Sucks, but weather like this makes it easier for me to do projects that I've been putting off, 'cause I didn't want to lose riding time. I hope Jet Hot has a short turn around time.

Hey Crusty where are you sending your header to get coated???

I sent mine to a place in Conn. I had my header back in <2 weeks. inside & out in flat black.

The website doesn't mention the Conn facility but they're there.
