Yesterday I went to my buddies house to deliver some Christmas cheer (homemade cookies), I felt the need to take the 12s instead of one of my Harleys. My buddy Mike is a 'hardcore' patchholder type. He was suprised that I was out doing the delivery rounds on my Buell instead of my Electraglide.
He was marveling at the Buells lines when I told him that if he has never rode one he should, go ahead and take mine for a spin. Last thing I told him was"cover the rear brake".
5 minutes later he comes back and I can hear him laughing like a little schoolgirl before the bike is even turned off or fullface helmet removed.
He had difficulty keeping the front wheel on the ground. When he was able to regain his composure he told me what most of us know. He has had x number of bikes and that was the funnest bike he has been on.
The moral of the story is that he is now looking for a Lightning. Now I wont be the only 'old fat tattooed dude' in my area riding a pocket rocket.
I know there are other HD riders on this forum. Next time one of your buddies asks WTF? Hand him the keys.

Ed

That's pretty much what happened to me on a demo day at vanson leathers' open house.
It was a blue M2.
Felt like my ironhead on a REALLY REALLY good day. : )

I aimed for the M2 and shot an X1 instead by accident.
oops.

Old, around this place you are a pup.
Tattooed, yup, fat--maybe after these dang holidays, used to ride Harley's. At least up until my dealer talked me into a test ride on one of these "new" Buells.

Gave my buddy the keys to my Uly a couple months back. I was unable to ride it because of heath problems so I figured someone should be riding it. He had it almost a week. He traded his '05 Super Glide this month on his very own '07 Uly.

My old man won't get on my bike either. He rode it one time for about ten miles, brought it back, and that was the last time he's accepted the offer to take her for a spin. I think the torque scared him. LOL! Evidently not everyone gets a kick out of roll-on wheelies.

My old man won't get on my bike either

My old man has a 77 FLH, that he has had since 79...

Rode the X1 ONCE....

Did the usual, hamfist action...bike stood right up at the bottom of the drive.. rode it out...turned around, and imediately went inside and grabbed a bourbon...hahaha

Needless to say, these bike WILL leave an impression on someone...

I gave my old man the key to the 12R and led him around on some twistys, I had not seen him smile like that in years. He wont buy one cuz he is a harley/chopper rider but said it sure was fun!

My bud Wulfstan's first words when he saw my Cyclone, were "that's small". I offered him a test ride, he's an experienced rider,. When he brought it back, ( 90 minutes later ) he told me never to let him ride it again, as it would kill him. Seems he was going down his favorite twisty road, & thought he was doing 65, and looked down & saw 95.

Buells. Not the fastest bikes but real easy to ride fast.

well my dad always liked to ride my old M2 around. Said it was fun... but only on the short rides since he was ridding the big ole road king. Then came the uly. He now has put over 11000 miles in 9 short months. he has the three part luggage and it's his new bagger. The road king is in the garage, but he prefers the uly. He likes to say he gets 500 smile per gallon. What can I say... Like son like father.
