I did that to my DR650. Worked like a charm, excellent traction on the slippery stuff, but downright scary if you get onto the pavement. It did have a tendency to rip the knobs right off though. |

I did the same thing to my KDX200 when we got a freak blizzard in Atlanta in the early 90's. Worked great but the screws I used weren't long enough and they eventually all flew off the rear tire. It wasn't fun at all after that. I slid out in a puddle of melting snow in front of the neighborhood kids and got laughed at pretty good. Damn kids... |

I grew up in Norway and I had a CZ125, which I had outfitted with studded knobbies for winter riding. It is a lot of fun to ride in the winter when you have some semblance of traction. Once I thought it to be a good idea to get a head of steam up and ride into a snowdrift. I did. The bike got buried in the drift and I went over the handlebars and landed softly in the snow. The problem was, the hot engine was encased in snow and ice. It was quite a chore to get it started again. Had to beg mom for permission to take the bike into the kitchen to thaw it out. i've never tried one of these, but this looks fun. It comes as either a kit to put on your own bike or you OR just purchase one already modified.

Would love to see the looks on the faces of the guys on snowmobiles when you go by them on one of those. I actually like the one posted above better and at MSRP $2,749 I might have to add one to my KTM520EXC. Now the interesting question my KTM is street legal, so if there is snow on the mountain roads up here where I live I wonder what the reaction I would get from the cops up here?
