after spending 8 hours reading through the various KV posts trying to glean any information, it has come to a couple of decisions.
1. I am tired of trying to keep up the pm wheels that were part of my bikes original build they are being ruined by acid rain / salt air soo change them for another type
possibly even xb wheels.

2. repolish and powder coat them with clear.

3. repolish and coat with translucent color. the bike is nuke blue and powder is not available and not likely to be

4. clean them up replace the bearings ride it and when paid off strip it down for a comeplete refinish (2 years or so from now)

has any one clear coated polished PM billet wheels? got pix? ..

Imo the "premium wheels" should have had better bearings, and should have been coated.. this sucks its not even paid for and it needs this level of work done }

It's hard to beat painted wheels for wash and ride convenience. I have polished wheels now but they're clear-coated. Maybe you could dip in that 'shine and remove the weathering? ;)

My wheels are polished and have no coating. I use Eagle One Nano-Polish about once a month and they stay very shiny. I live near the ocean and spend a lot of time on Pacific Coast Highway. When the wheels get hazy I just wipe them down. I don't know how much work you consider to be too much, but this product has really cut down on my cleaning time, and leaves a protective film that repels most dirt and corrosion.

Yeah, I use s similar product...

Dog, I have come up with a SIMILAR color powder coat...BUT, I am out of both batch colors, and havent tried it again yet... it was pretty close...

Anyway, if you REALLY wanted, I could send you my Nuke blue wheels, an dyou could return me the PM wheels

But, anyway, yeah, you would think for the money on those wheels...

My buddy had a similar issue with his 900RR, same wheels.....

Anyway...All options are viable...adn I will dig around here, and see what I got stashed...

Oldog...

I had my PM wheels polished and then clear coated with a powder coating. Because they are not "new" rims, there was a little piting in the powder.

But the overall result has been great! They aren't quite as shiney because the clear powder isn't exactly clear.

The best part is the cleaning process. It's a simple wipe down and they're shiney again. I try to wax them a couple times per year to keep a barrier on the powder coating.

Here's a few pics of the bike...

Ya know Chase
That is interesting, whos dust and how much?
I though about at refinish time candy metalic red frame, cleaned up and polished tail, Rims, refinish the CF and get the other pieces, mebe some graphics

OR

I have been considering the "Russ Mitchel" Treatment [ EXILE CYCLES ], which is a rubdown with a scotch brite and a clear coat. sorta anti chrome....

some thing has etched the powder coat on the frame in several places and it wont rub out.

Also

I been eye balling the hub ends and they look like they "bolt on" er humm I wunner if the hub ends can be replaced when the bearing bores roach?

900 rr? Pm made billet wheels same style for another co?

Bearings are on order from
"Al Saved my Butt" (American Sport Bike)

Matt I saw that stuff at the AP store, what I want is to rinse, soapy rag, rinse done no buffing no polishing. I dont have a garage that is mine to work in ....

Thanks Dennis!
I was hoping that you would sound off here
one of your original comments was that the
wheels looked great from a few feet away
My wheels are in horrible shape lots of pitting and staining, I also have a concern about the drive side rear look at the photo the inner bearing may have spun

Merry Christmas all

did you remove the bolt on parts from your rims?

I removed everything from the rims. Then spent countless hours cleaning, polishing, buffing, cleaning, polishing, buffing, repeat. I think you get the idea: )

There are still a few pits and scratches. But until you are right on top of the rims (and at the right angle), you'd think they were almost new. The biggest problem was getting some of the polishing compound of of the few pits.

If I was to do it again, I'd have them professionally polished to a mirror smooth finish. And then only handle them with cotton gloves until they're coated : D: D

brakes, pulleys, tires, valve stems, wheel bearings, and balance weights are either off or are coming off.

the front and rear rims have "blocks" that are bolted to them some paint is evident and they are probably loc-tited in not intended to be disturbed.

did you remove those??

Not sure what you mean by "blocks"? I removed all the parts you mentioned in the first line.

BTW....I just cut off the valve stems. They weren't easy to find replacements. I kept one around to show the parts guy.

Dog, PM sent...

I will talk to you more offline..

But, as far as the coloring, I dont konw if I can replicate that color again..accidently did it, while trying ot match a color like to Bostrom Edition Ducati, for someones wheel... and that was a little while ago..

It was close, but...not that close..SO..

But, there are so many options as to what to do, its realy up to your tastes, and wallet...

I am in the process of moving into a new shop, BUT, I wont be doing that until tuesday...so, my phone is unused till then..

Yeha, my buddy Carlos, had a set of those PM rims on his 900RR, 93 I believe... But, I cnat seem to ifnd any pics, NOR any info...

The Eastwood company makes a spray on clear coat designed for polished aluminum.

in aerosol:

and in quart containers to spray with a professional spray gun:

Or Zoop seal will do the trick for 2 years or so.

Just to add some more options to your plate

There is an awesome cleaner out there.

Simply spray it on and hose it off. Give it a gentle rub before you hose it off for the stubborn stuff. Comes out looking nearly like it was just polished.

name skips me...... but it is in a purple bottle under the moniker "all wheel clean".

does not act like simple green on uncoated stuff.

Yeah I did the simple green last night, and the wheel had to be repolished. my kid brother helped me out a lot, it's still nicked and pitted but acceptable. front is done except for the blind holes. I got to get the rear skin off of the rim,

Chase i am away from my computer now I will post pix and other stuff, from home.

I am trying to get rid of the white chalky stuff and some "stains" (filliform corrosion)

stay tuned I will do a write up for the kv as well, i used a tourch to reomve the bearings and will likely use dry ice freeze to replace the bearings after using a heat gun to carefuly warm the rims for the re-assm

Merry Christmas
