I'm no expert but did you ever get the wasp/bee parts out of the tank? You really don't want organic pollution of any kind clogging up the fuel system, even if it does have a filter.

When it is starting at that temperature it is real easy to foul the plugs. I'd start looking there.

I am not an expert = EX (has been) SPERT (a drip under pressure), but I would not want someone riding me at that temperature. Could it be ice building up in the intake or fuel line freeze up? I would also check for fouled spark plugs. Remember, I AN NOT AN EXPERT!

Hey Sparky,
No I never got the darn thing out of the tank. It was one of those crazy suicide attack bee's he had fuel addiction I guess. I was just too lazy I guess to empty the tank and all.
10 degrees C, No ice anywhere! Was just trying to grab the last ride before I put her away for the winter. I have rocker box gasket issues also, 18000km on her so its to be expected. I will bring her in and get the dealer to do a once over on the whole thing.
Oh and the plugs I think were fouled, they came out all black and powder like, rich me thinks. And I forgot to put lock tight on them last time so they came out really easy, not good I know!! That's me the expert...

NEVER loctite the spark plugs. You should use antiseize only.
And please don't use carb cleaner to check for a leak. Remember, carb cleaner isn't kind to rubber parts and there is an O2 sensor in line there.
Intake seals are covered for 5 years even without the extended warranty(in the US anyway). I don't believe the $50 deductable applies.

Yeah, antiseize only on the threads of the plugs!!

Black and wet means fouled.

Black and powdery usually means runs rich when not run long enough to properly warm up to operating temperature.

When you ride it when it is cold out it takes at least 10 to 15 miles to completely warm up to operating temperature.

Several cold starts without proper warm up will kill your plugs and wash the cylinders with gas, contaminating the oil with the excess gas. Not good.

With my bike I only start it when I'm gonna ride it, and I only ride it when I'm going at least far enough to warm it up properly.

Other wise, to keep it rolling, ya gotta stock a lot of plugs and change oil more often!
