There will be more on it this year yet.

Daves I hate to burst your bubble, but I deliver new cars and trucks for the local dealers in my area. I dont know what size motors are available in the stang GT,but I have seen the dodge 1500 pick up (HEMI) chew up the GT like a penny piece of bubble gum.

I think you can get the GT with 300 HP
I have, on purpose, not followed them all that close.
I really like them but do not need one.
I have a hard time thinking that a Hemi pickup would take a 300 hp Mustang unless the guy driving the Stang didn't know how to race very well?
Just the weight difference and the ability a car has to "hook up" better than a truck would make up for the HP difference.

Dana,
I don't think just a chip and exhaust would do it either. Maybe with propane injection yes. That really wakes them up!

wasn't there a video of that truck?
If it is, it has more work done to it than that to get into the 13s
Bigger turbo?
Propane inj?
Gears?
Weight shaving?
Suspension?

My wife's got the Mustang and it's not impressive IMHO.

WRX STi is most impressive right out of the box : )

BadS1, You still have the Element? How many windshields have you put in it? : ) I'm on number 4. There's a class-action out there where you'll get back the price of one. I don't have the details at hand, but it's a real thing.

I wasn't there my brother was and others. They or even him was not like excited about it. He ran it a couple times then parked it. Its 2006 model though.

I still do not believe a mostly stock truck can run mid 13 second 1/4 miles.
Anyone else on this thread ever seen this happen?
I could, of course be wrong.
Where's Rocketman, he would know.

BadS1,

http://www.gilardi.com/hondaelement/

http://www.hondaelementscrack.com/

That covers it -- I think? Anyway, we received something in the mail,,,made copies of the most expensive replacement we'd had (they're only covering one) and sent it in.

Dave,

The WRX Sti has to grow on you IMHO. You need to go drive one and let me know what you think : ) Nearly 300HP off the showroom floor,,,exhaust, downpipe, chip it,,,,340 is easily attainable.

One other thing that I noticed,,,,while driving it you can't see how ugly it is : ) The thing freaking rocks -- it will totally run away from the Mustang.

I'll chime in here. I've seen a f-250D four door long wheel base, with lift kit and 35 in tires pull out in 4w high and smoke'em down, all 4 that is. It had the 4in exhuast, a full k&n intake, and the bullydog programer. He said it would take a Gt off the line up till about 85-90 mph. not actually seen, but with the exhuast and chips the new diesels are strong!

That, I do not doubt.
I know the new diesels are hot if you pipe and chip them.
I am disputing the under 14 sec 1/4 mile time for a big heavy truck

the wrx wont pull away from a stage 3 mustang. Dont ask how I know but Ihave seen it tried and failed. Although in six gear stomping the gas on a stage 3 at 60mph will smoke the tires and if your not careful will do a complete 360 in the middle of a freeway while doing this. Sometimes I love my job.hehehe

you know about fast stuff.
What do you think about a mostly stock big diesel truck pulling a sub 14 sec 1/4 mile?

Stock I just dont believe it. I have never seen it, or heard about it in stock form. But with a few mild upgrades like a chip bigger turbos and different exhaust yes. But a dually stock running that I cant see.

We did do some propane injection on ford diesels that were prototype testing, and with some other work that was done they were able to get them into the low 13's. But they werent duallys.

here's the results from a diesel drag racing assoc race held last may
Only one truck in Pro 2, which I am guessing is the closer to stock trucks.
There is one 13.73 and one 14.00 flat.
Yep, I am waving the BS flag on this one Dana.

he could have a truck that runs those times but it would be far from stock,I'm thinking?

Jug,

I was only talking about the Mustang in my driveway. It's whatever a factory GT is -- unmolested. The STi will eat it.

If my wife will give me some money, about 6K, I'd like to give that stage III a go : )

I'd like to see a price comparison between the Mustang and STi after you set them both up,,,,very interesting.
