No one will ever be as fast as I was!

And the more I think about it the faster I was!

Joking aside Rocket, we are again on somewhat the same page. We all know people that could have been contenders. When you think about it, you need more that just talent to get to the highest ranks in racing. It takes dedication, money, and some good old fashion luck to get there. So for someone with a lot of prospects, it would not be a wise choice. You could loose too much.

I was watching Parkinson earlier this eve. Besides Rod Stewart and Dustin Hoffman, one Noel Gallagher from super group Oasis was guesting too.

Coincidental to this thread Noel said he toured the UK for three years with the band after they started out. Well before they made it, at a time when they had no money and Britain was in the grip of a recession with 3 million unemployed, Noel told people when asked what he did for a living that he was a rock star. The next question was usually 'what band are you in' followed by ' I've never heard of you'.

Just because the band hadn't hit the big time, Noel still played guitar for a living, and that in itself made him a rock star as far as he was concerned.

I'm not the fastest guy around on two wheels. It's just silly to me that most everyone who rides a motorcycle has a belief that the fast guys only exist on a race track and have made a name for themselves, or we happen to have a mate or know someone who is really fast. That's not so much the part the irks me. It's that part where we as bikers have to play down how good, great or fast we are when speaking about ourselves, for fear of being ridiculed or having too big an ego according to ones own biking buddies. It's a dumb set of circumstances. It's great for someone else to boost your ego, but just don't do it yourself.

If I were shit on two wheels I'd have given up riding them years ago and wasted my money on one of these.

four wheels better?

An awesome circuit and the only circuit in England run on closed public roads (like the TT).

Olivers

After the first hairpin that's a pretty steep climb upto the right hander at the top of the hill.

The last hairpin coming down from The Mount, just like the other two, is very tight, except this one is pretty high up with a steep drop off the edge. There is a run off road directly ahead at the hairpin, which is where many end up when they bottle it! Who can blame them. It's a pretty awesome circuit.

I am constantly asked by "other" brand motorcyclists why I ride/own a Buell. I answer, "Handling, power, innovation, sound," etc... I got this question from friends before a ride 2 yrs ago. After the ride, they understood much better.

The main reason for the negative comments is because, for most people, HD/Buell means tradition and old technology. The HD image looms large and casts a long shadow... over Buell engines. The HD image is; old and slow. It is only after someone either; 1, Rides with a Buell rider in the twisties, or 2. Test rides one themselves, do they understand Buells.

Do I care what others think about my choice of bike (or anything else for that matter)? Obviously not. But the negative buzz is out there... unfortunately.
