Perhaps they could get the OJ "How I Would Do It" show back on the air and co-star in it.

*I'm probably going to pay for this, but please read twice before making a comment*

Michael Richards made a mistake of flying off the handle, yes, but excuse me please for not being completely upset. Paul Rodriguez comes on and says how disgusted he is to hear what Richards said, come on, black people say that all the time, Hispanics say the word all the time, but have a white guy say it and all heck breaks loose. I guess it was because it wasn't said as a joke. If it was as a joke, he would have been fine.....right?

Why is it today everybody's a big cry baby?
My favorite is using the racial issue to skirt the law. "Deport the illegal aliens, you must be a racist bigot." Everybody doesn't like somebody or something, get over it and grow up.
Anyways, i'm wasting time here, I have to get back to lowering my XB12R, adding a touring windshield and gel seat so I can ride to the store and maybe a hydraulic clutch so my hand won't get sore in a mile.
Does anyone know if the Uly bags and trunk will bolt up to the Firebolt?

"I wouldnt have said it but the guy had it coming when he called Richards a cracker."

I saw the two black guys who bore the brunt of Richards tirade this morning on the news. When you hear their side of the story, you'll realize how wrong Michael Richards really was.

It was Michael Richards who brought up the 'race card', not the group of people in question (the group was composed of whites, blacks, and Asians celebrating a birthday).

I loved Michael Richards and I hope he's able to recover his reputation and what's left of his career, but he was as wrong as wrong can be.

I grew up around black people and went to a historically black university. Personally, I think the word is vulgar, and I have used it usually in referring to myself, or close black friends when I thought it made me look cool. It didn't. Now I think we know that we are not talking about the use of the word "nigger" by some yahoo redneck cracker who has a big Confederate flag on the back window of his pick'em-up truck, screaming out at some black pedestrians. So context must be considered. But my reading of the video of Richards indicated that his use was quite different than that. I wasn't there though, and have only seen and edited video, so the context may be different than what I saw.

I think I "get it" though, and quite frankly the use of the "N" word is so common with "black" people these days that I wonder if they do. It is a classic example of a double standard, and playing on white fears and guilt for the transgressions of their ancestors. The rule is that you have to have a portion of black blood (regardless of how small) to be able to use the word at will in mixed racial company. It is kind of like talking about your Mamma...you can do it but nobody else can...and certainly not white people.

I have a "black" daughter and grandkids (although she is at best 1/4 African) and I am always questioning her use of the word "Niggah" so indiscriminately. She is 34 so she doesn't always take my behavioral course corrections to heart, but I give them anyway. I try to teach my grandkids that if you bandy the word about so easily, that you should not be offended when some white person says it back to you, especially if they are just trying to be cool. Plus, I don't have to remind them that white people are their ancestors too.

It is interesting that the use of the word has almost as many meanings as "sheeeit", if you know what I mean. My many "black" (whatever that means, as only a few are really "black", like my bud Semion who is from Africa) friends call each other and ME "Niggah" all the time. I have accepted that I AM their "Niggah", which is alright by me, but a bit hyperbolic. I know they are just trying to let me know that they feel a certain kinship with me when we are soooo gellin', but for crissakes, how about using "friend" or "bud".

Really, in the grand scope of things, most of us middle class (MC's) and MC Wannabees, are "Niggahs" on this bus, as the man has his thumb firmly on our backs. We jump when he says jump and get our butts up to the big house when he calls.

So I am not terribly upset with Michael Richards (my cousin in LA used to date this crazy guy, and says he is OK, although his character on Seinfeld wasn't much of a stretch from his real self), or any other whitey who dares to cross the line...especially if the heckler called him a cracker. At that point he didn't cross the line, the line crossed him. So I think his contrition video of a typical white guy apology, "I just went crazy, I'm not a racist, and I am soooo sorry...here, take all of my money!", was unnecessary. I think Lenny Bruce laid out the groundwork for these situations a long time ago, and we should heed his advice.

For a white person to use the "N" word, whether in jest or not, you have publicly declared your racism. It's not something you can correct or apologize for. It's something you have to live with. Don't worry. Nobody's perfect.

It is a classic example of a double standard...

That is the part that REALLY bothers me. Some examples:

A couple of years ago, David Allen Grier was doing standup in Denver and appeared on a local radio morning program on a country station. He went on a tiraide about country music listeners being racist crackers who lynched black folks. Hearing it live on the air was the only media mention it ever got. There was no public outcry or apology.

In a Playboy Interview, film maker John Singleton referred to people living in Colorado and Idaho as "White Supremisists holed up in their bunkers". There was no public outcry or apology.

I think we are all familiar with the Ray Nagin's 'Chocolate City' comment, and his "I don't want New Orleans to be overrun by Mexican workers' comment. Why the citizens of that city re-elected his racist ass is beyond my comprehension.

And therein lies the crux...there are a lot of black racists out there too. They are a product of ethnocentrisms. Human beings have shown great capacity to be able to separate themselves from others based on just about everything from skin color to tribal affiliation to the way that they prefer to have orgasms. They just don't want to admit it. The fact is that we are all one race flying around on spaceship Earth...the human race and all of the rest of this crap is political.

The world is full of double standards though of all races, both sexes, all political and religious persuasions, which still doesn't make it right. Just being able to recognize and acknowledge that they are there is a major accomplishment, as awareness of things in our subconsciousness isn't easy. Most folks don't even know they have them or think it is OK for them to have them, but not for anybody else...which is double standard within itself. They are everywhere.

Those black racist you speak of are usually the first ones screaming when something is said, They are just waiting for someone to speak so that they can twist it up into a racial comment ,almost every race or religion was treated unfairly at some point in HISTORY , we all need to get past it and move forward, just my two cents ,Gary

Gary,
I can't see that black racists are any more prone to be the "first ones screaming" than anybody else. If someone feels that their ox is being gored, they usually get a 'tude about it, regardless of their race. Plus, it ain't like racism directed at "black" people is some kind of ancient "HISTORY" or anything, as there still is plenty of it to go around...but most of the time it is just a lot more subtle.

It wasn't that long ago that black people couldn't eat in restaurants around here... when racism was institutionalized by the state. Thanks to the federal government forcing Southern states to abandon their Jim Crow laws, it isn't nearly as oppressive to blacks these days, although it isn't a utopia either. Of course, the South still has a 'tude about being forced to send their daughters "to school with overgrown Negros" (as Ronald Reagan eloquently described it).

Just take the recent Senate race in Tennessee for instance...where a barely black (the guy had blue eyes) moderate Democrat (Harold Ford) lost in an election that appeared to turn against him after a racist ad ran that had an apparently nekkid blonde white woman saying the she "...met Harold at the Playboy party!", and then finished it off with "Harold, call me!" in a lustful voice. Yeah, racism is not dead, and it still wins elections in the South.

So, if black people are still a bit hyper-sensitive about it, you might not be too quick to criticize...until you have walked a mile in their shoes. That usually gives us a much better perspective on things. Here is your penny change.

All I have to say is that the majority of black people I have met and the few that are good friends all think there is a conspiracy against them by the government and whites. That drugs where planted in the ghetto by the government to keep the black man down. It really is crazy to here the stuff some black poeple have had drilled into their head at some point in their life.

I have never understood that if the "N" word was so racist why the black community would use it as a building block for a term that means my bud. Really as long as you use the "N" word in the right context meaning Nigga it is not a big deal, but even if a black man uses the racist "N" word to another black man they usually are trying to pick a fight or start some crap.

The biggest thing that bugs me about what Michael Richards said was the pitch fork up the ass hanging from a tree line at the very begininng of his rant. But if he was Chris Rock he would have gotten a good laugh out of it. Chris Rock has one of the most racist comic acts I have ever seen and the black community eats it up.

Do any of you think that if any white comedian used the word Cracker over and over in his act that he would get a laugh from the white community, no way.

So I guess I don't think the "N" word is as racist of a word as it once was since it has turned into an everyday slang word used by the black community, if it really hurt their feelings they would never use it. Actually the term would probably fade away and be ancient history.

I have a definition;

nigger
One entry found for nigger.
Main Entry: nig·ger
Pronunciation: 'ni-g&r
Function: noun
Etymology: alteration of earlier neger, from Middle French negre, from Spanish or Portuguese negro, from negro black, from Latin niger
1 usually offensive; see usage paragraph below : a black person
2 usually offensive; see usage paragraph below : a member of any dark-skinned race
3 : a member of a socially disadvantaged class of persons <it's>
usage Nigger in senses 1 and 2 can be found in the works of such writers of the past as Joseph Conrad, Mark Twain, and Charles Dickens, but it now ranks as perhaps the most offensive and inflammatory racial slur in English. Its use by and among blacks is not always intended or taken as offensive, but, except in sense 3, it is otherwise a word expressive of racial hatred and bigotry.

Man, I'm tired of the southern racist redneck stereotype. It's been brought up a few times. I grew up in the south and for the most part you can't be a racist down here. There are more blacks here than anywhere else in the country(save for a few large cities). Blacks make up over 1/3 of the population in the south, still a minority but way higher than the 10% national average. Growing up I saw much more aggression from the blacks towards the whites than from whites to blacks. I've had the experience of being called every white slur you could think of and being surrounded by 5 black guys who were just itching for me to say something back so they could have an excuse to jump me. If you want to be a racist down here you better pick your enviroment carefully.

i've lived a few different places, including the south, and various western states. I was often surprised, people in the west often seemed to disbelieve racism still exists. When you see a huge bronco roll down the street with license plate "TX KLAN" brings to mind, its still a problem. But it is too bad that rather than oversensitivity there cant be constructive discussions that arent motivated by "sound-bite scandals".

Yeah, and it was on CSPAN!!! And there was a white guy sitting right there, quiet as a mouse.

The part I actually liked best, after watching it a few times, was when he said he's a vegan... no meat in any form, no cheese, no WHITE flour...

The way he said "white" flour... it's hilarious, he practically chokes on the word white.

Conversation heard back stage on CSPAN:

Man, like I got out there on stage and said, you know, "KILL WHITEY!!!"

Yeah, you know, let's kill whitey!

Yeaaah, kill whitey!

Hey man, you DO like white girls, with big o'juicy bwutts, doncha?

Yeah man, I love white girls...they will let you do anything you want to them, like, you know, **** 'em in the ****.

Well, like if you go out and kill whitey, there will not be having any more little white girls.

Oh yeah, man...that's right, man. Maybe we should rethink this.
