With the last thread I saw on Ducati buying Buell, is that why I just saw a HD Dealer in Sherman, TX putting up a Victory Sign up on the dealership?

Is there a connection between Victory and HD now?

Nope....Polaris owns Victory. Probably just a multiple brand dealer. A dealer near me sells, Harley, Yamaha, Suzuki,Honda,Polaris and Arctic Cat all in the same place ! One stop shopping......

I've seen similar dealerships like that, but I've also seen them forced to build a seperate building for Harley, you can own the competition but must be seperate (I guess). Ran into the same thing with a car dealer I worked at; we had Ford, GMC, and Suzuki....Ford and GMC in seperate buildings, Suzuki got moved around because Ford didn't want it in their shop (I guess competition between Suzuki's Grand Vitara and Ford's Escape). Home offices can be wierd that way sometimes.

HD usually frowns upon having another non HD brand in the same building. But, it can and has been done before. I know in Daytona at the destination store they are getting ready to open a Ducati/Triumph dealer on the same grounds, but seperate buildings. Along with a bunch of other non HD dealerships (IronHorse, Big Dog, Ness, Rucker.....) planned to be on the grounds.

Cycle City in Honolulu has HD/Buell and Kawasaki under the same roof...C.C.s HD turnover is phenominal which probably explains the mother companies acceptance

Hmmm.. In Rockville MD, they have hd/Buell, Ducati, BMW, Yamaha all under one roof (and a small one at that).. I guess it has a lot to do with the individual dealer agreement. I don't think anyone opening a new boutique(some of which sell actual motorcycles) can have another brand in the same building, but the older ones could, since it was part of being able to stay in business during the lean times.

We do in the United States as well.

I'm not aware of any of the limits folks allude to.

I, PERSONALLY, think Buells sell better sitting next to a Ducati than a FLH.

The one thing I did hear recently is from a dealer's regional rep/mgr, is that there are plans (part of a 5year look ahead) to have stand alone Buell dealerships - no H-D.

I could see this happening, providing that Buell (more so H-D) limit the amount of restriction of floor space. Seeing dealers that carry Triumph, Ducati, and/or other sportbike makes under one roof seems to be a norm. So why not a Buell dealer with other sportbike makes on the floor. It seems obvious that sportriders looking for a ride do not go heading to a H-D dealership to compare a Buell to a Dyna, or visa versa. Besides a H-D cruiser rider stating "why would anybody want to ride that thing", Buells do not get much attention in a H-D dealership. BUT, put them in a line up with a Monster, Daytona, or Breva and for sure they would be hopping on them all and looking for test rides. Like many have said before - get them to ride one and they'll love it.

So hopefully this may be an idea that evolves into reality.

Just a thought....

The only connection that H-D and Victory may have is they seem to have plans to use the same trike conversion company for their "factory" trikes. How about this for a stomach turner - Firebolt trike with a trunk

Dan,

The Firebolt does NOT come with in the trike version.

It is the Uly that is the Three Wheeler in the Buell Line.
Coming in 2008. Here is a sneak preview.

Probably shouldn't be positing this, but, what the hell, everyone will know soon enough.

You know... I lurk on a lot of bike forums and I can honestly say I have more fun and laugh harder on this site than any of the others hand down.

Everyone seems to wear there feelings on their shoulders at the other sites. I like the banter here....

Kuddos to all.

btw, Thanks for the real information in all the great disinformation, makes me feel right...hmmm like when I was in the USMC.
