Not content with stealing the 'Mass Centralisation' concept from Buell, Honda are now making use of all the discarded S1 rear fenders on their new 800cc MotoGP bike!

At least it makes Dani Pedrosa look like a normal size human being for a change. Poor old Nicky will look like he's riding a minimoto!

I haven't watched Motegi yet. Were there any 800cc bikes in the race? Please don't give me any results because I will be watching it on Tuesday.

Honda has had a low center mount exhaust pipe for a long time. For at least as long as the have been running the RC211V.

And since we're on the subject, take a look at the '07 ZX-6R, with its underslung exhaust to help "mass centralization". I guess imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery.

Matt,
Danni still looks tiny to me. MotoGP should go to a new format where the top ten finishers also have to face each other in the boxing ring after each race. Call it "MotoContender." joker

Note the second perch on the seat, one position for hanging off, one for tucking in. Pretty cool.

Steve,
The muffler looks to be under-tail on that bright green thing.

Mac,
I didn't notice anything about any 800cc bikes at Motegi.

No 800cc bikes in the race but there was a testing day on Monday. That's wen the Honda 07 GP bike was revealed.

If you look closely at the 07 ZX6R, it has a tail exhaust that exits from under the seat, not Buell type exhaust. It looks likes an expansion chamber or cat. I'll have more info after Intermot in Cologne, Germany in a couple of weeks!

Thanks Guys. I thought I read somewhere the Ducati would be running it's 800cc bike before the season ends. I'd love to get a look at one in action.

Ah-ha, I needed to go back and read more closely. Here is a brief excerpt from motorcycle.com and their recent article on the newest Kawasakis:

"The engine isn’t the only game in town when it comes to keeping things compact. The engineering team opted for a new pre-chamber exhaust that is located below the engine. This move allowed them to keep the under-seat silencers smaller and lighter. And as you've probably figured by now, this contributes to mass centralization. An added benefit to smaller exhaust cans is a tail section that is significantly narrower."

I must have keyed upon "below the engine", "mass centralization", and stopped there. My bad. I stand corrected. Please resume discussion about the Honda.
