I do think it's nice to see people who have the capacity for self criticism stand up & take it on the chin. It's so much better than just denying/abusing others that aren't agreed with, it's a breath of fresh air.

However....

I service my Peterbilt 378 at 6000 mile intervals and it holds 22 quarts of oil.

Solution, buy a Volvo! Oil changes every 50,000 miles.
The company I drive for have extended to 100,000km with monthly inspections, & periodic oil analysis.

Grumpy, thank you for your input.

Thanks also for your offered solution, but I'm a Peterbilt/Caterpillar guy. Wanna race? : )

BTW I went back and 5-starred everyone who was offended by me in some way. I do appreciate the input, as I seek to grow personally. I just hope they come back to read the responses, as I put time and thought into them.

Nah, be no point, after 56mph we're limited.

I drive nothing but Volvo these days, the boss has been tied up with them for over 40 years,he's got well over 1,000 of 'em!

You can buy Volvo with a Cat in in the US, but not for much longer I'm told. I don't know what the US build quality is like on the US models, but here I can tell you they're a very good piece of kit.

If I get out West I'll let you know first & you can show me over your Peterbilt.

Now am offended. My post didn't get any stars. Not even one.

And if you must know, I'm also offended by your not only imprisoning that poor turtle, but especially by using him to make fun of all of us out here who can either afford nothing faster than our dial-up connections or live so far out in the boonies that we're lucky to have what we have. I thought it was very inconsiderate and insensitive and showed an attitude of superiority and total disdain for those less fortunate than you. Including turtles.

I’ll take my five stars, thank you very much.

First, calling me lily white is exactly the same as calling a black guy the N word.

Umm, wow. Wow. Just, ya know, wow.

1) He didn't call you lily white.

2) That is one of the strangest comparisons I have ever seen made on the internet. And that's sayin' sumpin. What kind of weird universe do you live in where calling *anyone* "lily white" has any of the same historically oppressive, insulting, demeaning, and dehumanizing context that the N word does? Have people in the US ever been prevented from voting for being damn "lily whites"? Have they ever been systematically lynched and intimidated and kept in their place, ya know cause "lily whites" should know their place? Get out of town before nightfall "lily white"? Give me damn break. You may well have been offended, but the insults aren't even in the same league. (And also, see point 1)

3) I also found your original remarks offensive and I am "lily white" It would have been much better IMHO to have said "I only ever saw black people riding that kind of chopper" rather than to go on this whole racist guess-which-minority-I'm-referring-by-the-insulting-generalizations-I'm -making trip you decided to go on instead.

Here's what he said:
It sounded as if you were saying that if you weren't lily white

It is clearly implied that he assumes I am white.

You said:

Have they ever been systematically lynched and intimidated and kept in their place, ya know cause "lily whites" should know their place? Get out of town before nightfall "lily white"?

Sing me another song. That is a victocrat argument if ever I heard one. Do I need to point out that we abolished slavery long before even the British did? Need I remind you that slavery still exists all over the world? Are you so insensitive that you imagine it impossible that I might be JEWISH?

You're welcome to your opinion, and I appreciate your input. I grew up in a free country, and last time I checked it still was. For you or anyone to throw my color at me as a weapon to belittle me by insinuating that only whites can be racist is both ignorant and offensive in and of itself. All the cotton in my shirt was picked by a machine!

5 stars for you!

Had to edit a typo... it happens

Pwnzor, I can drive em both sides, I've been driving both left & right hookers since the early 80s.
What box you got in that thing? a girly synchro 4 over 4 with splitter? or a proper drivers box like a Fuller RTO13 or Eaton Twinsplit?
Only thing that would screw me up would be the turning circle & all that hood, I'm used to cabovers.

Caterpillar C13, Eaton Super-13.
I'm putting 525hp to the ground, 1850 ft-lbs. of torque, 260 inch wheelbase.

It's a bit long in the nose, yes, but that caterpillar is big and heavy so the long wheelbase is well suited for it. I let my drivers handle all the regular freight, I go out exclusively on extralegal loads (wide, overlength, overweight, etc). The rest of the guys don't like the work, say it's too dangerous but I make in half a day what it takes them all week to earn. Plus it's what I love to do.

Dang, you need a second driver for those loads?

I'm old-school I can feel em & fix em. I've always been the odd-job guy wherever I've worked, I hate doing the same run all the time, might as well work in a factory.

The Pole, was released without charge.

The Czech, was found guilty but with mitigating circumstances, & given a conditional discharge.

The Hungarian, was remanded for a psychiatric report.

The Romanian, jumped bail & is believed to have fled the country.

The Bulgarian, claimed political asylum, & was instantly supplied with: a work permit, house, car, & visas for his 93 immediate relatives.

Tune in next week for more from, INTERPOOL REPORTS.

All references to persons, nations, or any other being alive or dead are entirely fictitious & the result of the authors overheated imagination.

You have failed in your purpose. After the unjustified and unsubstantiated flaming you did in my 9/11 memorial ride thread, I will never exhibit the slightest hint of respect for you. It seems to me that you're only here to show off how clever you think you are by insulting people.

After the unjustified and unsubstantiated flaming you did in my 9/11 memorial ride thread

Let's take a look at how I flamed you, shall we?

I said "Ride and have fun if you like but don't kid yourself that it's going to help anything substantial. They will give out exactly the amount of money required by law and keep the rest."

I maintain this tone throughout, never once making any comment about you personally, or the ride to which you were referring. OTHERS chimed in with statements about charities as a whole, and called into question their accounting practices. My further comments were to pontificate the remarks of others. I'm not the one that said "SCUMBAG RALLY", that was someone else.

Tell you what, instead of ME doing YOUR homework FOR YOU, why don't YOU read the THREAD AGAIN and pay ATTENTION this time.

you said: It seems to me that you're only here to show off how clever you think you are by insulting people.

I show off how clever I am everywhere I go, being a shameless self-promoter. See how easily I admit this fact. I respect myself, and I respect others who respect themselves enough to treat people in a civil manner, even in the face of differing OPINION. Even when people act in a self-deprecating manner, I give the benefit of the doubt.

You see, I believe that people are dynamic, not static. Nobody is the same from moment to moment, day to day. It is the understanding and appreciation of these qualities which has allowed me to grow as a person and accept others. Quite the opposite of someone who misreads the intentions of another who is merely trying to shed a little light on a situation. Life is full of positives and negatives, and much if depends on your own point of view. You point of view depends on your situation, and your situation depends on YOU. Nobody else. Get a grip.

Thanks for your input, and I sincerely hope you can get over your anger issues. 5 stars for you, Matt. We share the same name, supposed to mean "gift from God". Do you do your best each day to live up to it?

Remember, Allah loves wonderous variety!

Mr Grumpy, I have nine other drivers working for me. I have three tractors, six trailers, and seven 24' flatbed trucks, I think they call those lorries over on your side of the pond. All this truck talk is getting off topic though, this thread is supposed to be for people who want to sound off on me and get their irritation of their chest so we can all move on.

In life, I have found that intelligence and wisdom irritate people more than almost anything. C'est la vie.

Captpete,

Maybe the word "poll" was wrong to use for this, I just wanted to create a place for people to attack me all at once.

Since you asked, when it dies down a bit more I'll compile some stats based on the responses and post them. Right now it seems I still have people coming at me so I'll give it a bit longer.

Keep it coming, everyone! This thread is pure gold! Someday I will contact everyone in this thread and send them a free autographed copy of my book.

That I'm pretty sure would have been me! i stand behind my comments when i see very little money being given back to those who the rally is for. i find it sad and in poor taste..only MY opinion. don't feel bad...it's not the first i have seen.

Thanks, I agree, it's really turning out much better than I had ever hoped. I think everyone involved is learning from it, whether they realize it or not!
