Bike show with a Dyno shoot out. Enter my XB12S. Bike is disqualified because they can't attach leads to plug wires without removing air box. This dealer used to sell Buells and serviced them until last year. Disappointing to say the least.

"Why Harley dealers suck."

I'll bet we can come up with a lot more reasons.

"because they are a clothing and accessory boutique?"

Please, lets have the correct terminology.

" Lifestyle, retail outlet"

or "Ripoff merchant"

i think the mitigating factor in the suckdom of most HD dealers is that they cater less to motorcycle rides than they do to motorcycle owners...
or wannabe owners.
the average sinoscoot or eurosled dealer has a customer who rides most days of the week, and whom rides to work.
the average hd owner rides on weekends, and typically short distances to bars where they might anjoy the company of other hd owners in admiring their scoots.
of course, there are always exceptions, and the tallest mileage i've seen on motorcycles, very consistently, has been on harley evos.
but the dealers truly cater to owners, not riders.

Harley dealers don't suck at all, they provide a place for the non riders to hang out and pose and bore each other with chrome accessories and gaudy paint jobs. Otherwise they might actually be out riding and we would have to dodge them as well, just like during the week when they are driving their cages and mindlessly yakking on their cell phones.

Well... I am not so sure about that. Plenty of low-mileage scooters available in all makes and models. Lots of different riders never put many miles on their bikes. In fact the last 2 years with my baby daughter born, my mileage has dropped a lot over the previous 20, hopefully I'll be full-time again soon.

I rode last Saturday with a group of mostly Harley riders but a few were on Shadows. I was on my '05 ST1300 and my son was riding my '99 S3. We were headed up to the Cripple Creek rally to honor our patriots who have served our country.
At one stop a Shadow rider asked me about the ST and how many miles I had on it. I told him "Almost 16,000". He said "Wow, I've had my bike since '99 and only have 15,000mi. on it". Then my son piped up and said "Yeah, he has 58,000 on this one"!
Maybe these guys were still serious riders even though they don't put a lot of miles on their bikes. But one thing I noticed was that they can't corner for beans.

Why would the inability to connect the plug wire lead cause disqualification? RWHP measurement does not require the plug wire lead; the plug wire lead is only required for the engine torque report.

The Buell would have been the shoe in winner, some dealers may not like them. but most know that other than the V-WAD
the Buells make more ponies

If bugman had shown up on a RRR then they would have found a "reason" to DQ him too.

The fact they don't know what wire to use for a dyno test loop makes me wonder how
good of a Buell dealer they were in the first place.

Anyway, RWHP is RWHP no matter what the tach is reading like Blake said.

They didn't want a Buell to "show-up" their big...bad...harleys.

On another note one of my son's friends got the impression that H-D's were the
fastest bikes on the road based on a video game where the Harleys were capable of 200
mph and the other bikes would do 180 or so. My son did't get the name of the game,
but he did get a good laugh out of it. So did I.

The last time I had my S3 FI on a HD dealership dyno, they refused to take it past 5500 rpm

Take the chip off yer shoulders. A good bit of R&D money for our bikes had to come from somewhere.

My Sportster will do 200mph if you push it out of a plane or something ;)
