After beating my head against a wall for a month trying to fix my bike, I desided to try one more thing. Before taking it to a shop and throwing more money at it, I thought about how the gas tank filler cap doesn't seal as well as it should. I drained all of the old gas, and threw in 2 gallons of fresh gas. Started it up, and did a run around the block. At this point with all of the disappointments that I have had, I was expecting it to cut out any second. It didn't. I returned home to put on proper gear, then went to wring it's neck a bit. It hesitated a bit in first gear, I figure that there may be a little moisture left in the tank. For the most part, it ran fine. When I got home, I adjusted the idle, and the mixture screw, then went for a ride around the block again. I think that I solved the problem finally.

Woo-Hoo!

If the fuel fill cap isn't sealing some fuel stabilizer might help as an interim fix until you can get that resolved.

Tried that, that's why I didn't think that was the problem.

fuel stabilizer is great-
for keeping fuel from component separation. isopropyl is a better band-aid if you think water might be getting in.
ALWAYS start with a fresh tank of gas before toubleshooting fuel systems

Yeah, and you have to add the stabilizer to fresh gas for it to work too.

Tramp is right though, you need fresh gas and a fully charged battery to start troubleshooting.

I'm learning... little by little.

Edit: Now my girlfriends car has a couple gallons of watered down 93 octane. Tastes great, less filling.

Excellent. I almost advised that you also drain the float bowl. D'OH! LOL

The older I get, the more time I spend laughing at myself.

You know I just had an episode with some water in my gas, luckily draining the tank and refilling was my first step. I think that oil we're paying $78 a barrel for is a bit watered down.
