Has anyone polished or painted the raw looking alum. swingarm on a 2000ish s3? I am not sure if it is coated or not but I'd like to just hit it with sand paper and scotchbrite and maybe Mothers polish , let me know if this is a good idea or not, I dont want to go crazy , but id like to improve the look a bit , Thanks , Gary

if you do it, forget the scotch-brite, and simply use 400 grit papre.
afterward, use an etching compound, and follow up with zinc chromate primer (try marine or aeronautic supply places) failing the zp, use a catalyzed system primer. a good body-shop could do the work for you chgeaply, if you're willing to wait until they get a bigger catalyzed-primer job in, and spray your swingarm on the side.
another idea is to simply powdercoat it, athough i'm against the idea of baking something aluminum that has such long runs
of structure. too much chance of warping.

They can be easily polished by wetsanding with 400/600/1000 then polished. Looks good when done.
