My water hyacinths are in bloom, FINALLY. This was a new arrival just this morning, to brighten an otherwise gloomy day for me. Hope you all enjoy it.

I was cringing the whole time watching that because I thought it was one of those deals where a zombie face pops out scares the shit out of you.

You don't seem like a flower planting kind of guy.

Thanks for the compliments. The Mrs. enjoys gardening to the extreme, myself I take interest in the aquatic side of the hobby. I have 3 small ponds with varying wildlife interspersed with livestock and plants. My favorite inhabitants are a pair of bullfrogs, here is a picture of the male. The female is more elusive.

Here's a shot of one of the water lillies in bloom, with a baby dragonfly as a bonus.

I also have a baby red-eared slider turtle, about 4 inches long now.

I have a thriving guppy population in all three ponds, and the turtle's pond has a small white koi halfbreed named Whitey. The big goldfish all stay toward the deepest part of the ponds where it's cool. I try to let the plants cover the majority of the surface in summer time to prevent hair algae growth and overheating. Mr. and Mrs. Bullfrog keep the small animal population in check, eating everything they can fit in their mouths, including mice and birds. They are the stars of the show, and sing me to sleep each night, and I also waken to their calls.

Patrolling the premesis, our latest edition to the family. Gretel, the wandering tortoise. She was "found" in a neighbor's yard and their dog was doing its best to kill her. Puncture holes in her carapace and some blood loss. I nursed her back to health and now she is the master of her domain!

She likes to lean up on this rock in the morning and soak up the sunlight. Then its a feeding rampage on all the sweet morning grasses and tender shoots and leaves in the garden which has now been planted to her particular tastes. We watched what plants she ate, and restocked with those exclusively. Her favorite is a little ground cover plant called Chocolate Chip.

Now what kind of guy to I seem like DJ? : )
