A Cat's Diary:

Day 183 of my captivity.

My captors continued to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal.
The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild
satisfaction I get from clawing the furniture. Tomorrow I may eat
another house plant. Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving
around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded. Maybe I
should try this at the top of the stair. In an attempt to disgust and
repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on
their favorite chair. I must try this on their bed.
Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make
them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their
hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little kitty cat
I was. This is not working according to plan.
There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in
solitary confinement throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise
and smell the food. More important, I overheard that my confinement was due
to my powers of inducing something called "allergies." Must learn what this
is and how to use it to my advantage.
I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog
is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a
half-wit.
The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant. He speaks with them
regularly, and I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current
placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I can wait.

It's only a matter of time.

Here's a continuation on the rules for cats.. too lengthy to post here, but I now realize why I will never be a cat owner...like kids, don't mind other people's, just don't want any of my own...

I love the typical "guy" logic in not liking cats yet the very attributes that most folks attribute to cats are those very same attributes that most guys hope people associate with them.

Am I the only one who sees a small irony here?

I think it was the 'FAR Side' cartoon that interpreted a dogs barking as:

Hey! Hey ! Hey...Hey...Hey....Hey!

What is a cat?

- Cats do what they want.
- They rarely listen to you.
- They are totally unpredictable.
- When you want to play, they want to be alone.
- When you want to be alone, they want to play.
- They expect you to cater to their every whim.
- They are moody.
- They leave hair everywhere.
- They drive you nuts and cost an arm and a leg.

Conclusion: They are little women in fur coats!

What is a dog?

- Dogs lie around all day, sprawled on the most comfortable piece of furniture in the house.
- They can hear a package of food opening half a block away, but they don't hear you when you are in the same room.
- They growl when they are not happy.
- When you want to play, they want to play.
- When you want to be alone, they want to play.
- They are great at begging.
- They will love you forever if you rub their tummies.
- They leave their toys everywhere.
- They do disgusting things with their mouths and then try to give you a kiss.

Conclusion: They are little men in fur coats!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------

Dog: This human feeds me, houses me, takes care of everything! He must be god!

Cat: This human feeds me, houses me, takes care of everything! I must be god!

The difference between dogs and cats?

Dogs have owners.

Cats have staff.

D, Me too! It's refreshing coming home to a dog at the end of a day dealing with people. I don't have to figure out what they want, it's obvious. I don't have to figure out what they REALLY mean when they say something. Pet me, feed me, walk me, pet me.

I'm not trackin' with you on that one, what do you mean? Cats are ok, I can tolerate them, but I will choose a dog over a cat any day.

I'm a dog person too.

I have a solid preference for the various retriever breeds.

Our current dog, Ginger, is a golden/yellow lab mix. I got her, as I always do, at the pound.

She is by far the most intelligent, trusting, and loving dog I have ever met or owned.
I got her when she was 1 year old. When I went to the pound she was the only dog there not
throwing herself at the cage door and barking her head off. She sat up at "attention"
and waited to be called over to the cage door. Her eyes and attitude told me what I needed
to know about her. It's too bad that she can't have puppies.

Here she is with my son (what's-his-name).

She has yet to meet a person she doesn't love, and believes that every person will love her,
She can be insistent on giving them the chance to love her, whether they are a dog person or not!

I use to hate cats until my wife picked up these two brothers from the vet. They are something else....killing machines for sure. I have grown to like cats.:

I now have three dogs, all different personalities.
I have had many cats in the past, all different personalities.
I found them all to be wonderful pets and don't prefer one over the other.

Indy - I guess I meant the independence of the cat. Their attitude is they can take you or leave you. Kinda like how some guys I know would want others see themselves (though they're rarely as tough and as independent as they would LIKE to be).

I've always had dogs, hunting and working dogs - retrievers, Aussies and Border Collies. Have had some really cool cats too.

I'm dogless right now, getting a cat this weekend from a friend.

I had to put my last dog down last year, Sucks, But it is ok; I now have a VERY very loving cat(so much so he sleeps on me every chance he gets). And after three months he finally got named.

SunShine:
Those Cats are so cool, I had a almost totaly black varient of your cats, we called her
"Lucky", because she was not,

killing machine is right, she wiped out the green lizard pop in our back yard, my favorite memory of her, is at the back door with a honking big greenie in her mouth,[ I thought ] she was shaking her head and growling,[ an un usual action for her (the head shake any way) I look closer, the Lizard is clamped to her lip and she cant get it into her mouth. I was amused enough to "rescue" the lizard for its act of defiance, Lucky had several mishaps after that including an nearly fatal run in with a car.
My X has her ( assuming that she is still alive )

A question do they sleep on their backs legs splayed?

Just played fetch for an hour with my grey tabby. She just learned this today. I throw the toy, she runs after it, she bats it around a bit then comes running back with it in her mouth and drops it. Amazing.

I had a big old male orange tabby (R.I.P.), that would come up to me every day when I got from work, and would rear up on his hind legs and place his front paws on my legs so that I could pick him up and carry him over my shoulder like a baby for about 5 minutes before he would even think about eating his meal. One time he was sick and in the hospital for two days and we decided to bring him home and spare him the agony of more tests, and when they opened the cage he jumped into my wife's arms, and looked over her shoulder and saw me, then he started crawling over her to get to me. At night he'd sleep next to me on his side with one paw over me and his head resting on my pillow. I could tell a bunch of stories about this cat that would amaze you. If I ever see the Coyote that cut his life short...

All pets are cool.

She has been awesome. Very sweet, a little stand offish to strangers and quietly protective of my truck and house.

Three times over the ears she has attempted to be the dominate one in the pack but it went pretty easy all in all to put her back in "her place".

Even at 14 she draws more comments than I can believe. Drop dead gorgeous.

Olddog- Spiderman (the taller one) has caught a fly out of the air with his mouth. It was at the door at the top of the door frame buzzing around and he jumped from a standing position and took it right out of the air. It was about a 6 ft leap.

Jesse (one with the Jack) sleeps on his back all the time.

I'm not a pet guy in general, but I'm really fond of the stray calico cat my girlfriend took in our home last year.

I don't consider myself a 'cat' man, though. I just know a cool kitty.

It amazes me how much air one of those furballs can get. I've watched one of our previous rascals do a 6' standing back flip attempting Spidermans feet. Had another that I swear could jump up on a 8' deviding wall from the floor in the house I grew up in.
