Just checked it out at my local dealer - pearl white - With the 07 upgrades, I'm finding it even harder to resist

Can anyone here point me toward some good HD forums where I can read/learn more about this bike and HD ownership in general?

Besides the price, and the lifestyle, I need to find me a good reason not buy this thing...

TIA

I can...still not recoverd from teh sticker shock if the aforementioned bike when I checked it out LAST week...

that fat price tag is what keeps me from buying another...

Even a similar RK, from 92 was 14.5k

Nope....

BTW.... the emerging consensus re the TC 96 motor and 6 speed tranny is...

Surprisingly small HP gain from the TC88, but noticeable increase in torque and "feels faster"...probably a result of the gearing change.

Several have noted that the stock exhaust has a more pleasing tone.

Overall performance of the TC96 in stock configuration seems similar to TC88 w/stage 1 and exhaust mods. Looks like the TC 88 w/Stage II big bore kit [95] somewhat better than the TC 96 stock.

Several owners have commented on how hot the new motor seems to be running.

This is just what I've gleaned so far from browsing some of the sites.

As someone who just bought an 06 FLHTCI, I'm always on the hunt for info that makes me feel like I made a good choice.

At twice the weight and half the horsepower, Why would you want one?

How about looks, sound, resale value, long distance two up riding. I have and really enjoy my '00 RK with 95" engine, T'header, Power Commander. Faster than you might think though that is not its prime purpose for sure. I like my Uly and also like my loud, non cornering Bourget but if I had to have only one bike i believe the RK would be it.

Also, 55K miles with an idle control module being the only repair.

I find that when people can't understand someone else's choice of vehicles it is usually due to their having never experienced that particular ride.

Get one Rhino, you will not regret it.

YMMV

Yeah, the RK's are really excellent cruiser/tourers. Good ergo's, no vibration perceptible through the controls, very smooth ride and decent performance.

I've got almost 75,000 miles on my '96. So far the only non-consumable items I've had to replace (other than crash damage--can't count that!) have been a clutch and a clutch cable. The thing is a brick.

When I bought it in '98 with 29,000 miles on the clock, the compression checked out at 160 psi in both cylinders. When it got its annual full service this spring at 70,000 miles, it was still at 160 in both holes. Did I mention that the thing is a brick?

If I ever get rid of this one, I'll probably get another one. It's been that good.

The RK is my next bike. I will be keeping the XB also. The RK will be used for 2 up riding with my better half, and for our ride from the Atlantic to the Pacific and back. This years changes are making it harder to fight the urge.. But Probably going to wind up putting it one more year.

This September it will have been an entire year since I bought a new motorcycle. I'm thinking Street Glide but my first harley was a 94 black and silver RK. That black pearl/pewter classic looks unbelievable.

Winter is a real good tiem in MN to be looking for a deal on a bike.

If you can hold out till December or January you can actually get some what of a deal.Remember you are competing with a lot of yuppy RUB's on a new & improved 75 year old design from Harley Davidson. My cousin is a dealer said the 06 and older used RK's will be plentiful sales are brisk on the 07 model.

Actually I've started collecting what I consider significant motorcycles. Currently I have a first year ULY,Street rod and 1200RT. Last year of the Carbed Heritage Softtails. Thinking of first year of new big twin engine, question is which model. Street glide has the most appeal but really like the two tone color choices in the RK line. For the first time in my life I've got the room and income to support my insanity. It would be real easy if I quit going to Bonneville racing.

I have an '06 RoadKing Standard. It's a great bike for touring/cruising long distances. It's my rolling closet, I've got room for all my stuff including my hair dryer.
I've lowered mine 2" so I scrape stuff in the curves. Fun tho. It is bulky and heavy for running errands and dealing with in-town parking. When I want to go fast in the curves, I ride my '99 X1. Hmmm maybe next year I'll do the 95" kit and have a hot rod dresser...
