Does anyone know anyone in Paris????

I stopped here on the way home from Turkey for a few days and I wouldn't mind hooking up with a local to show me some cool nightlife.

Just thought I would give this a try.

Thanks,
Damnut

my favorite Paris shot was in House of Wax, when she gets speared in the forehead, one of the very best hot chick gory death scenes of all time.
now what were we talking about??

Best I can tell you, Pigalle is the Paris equivalent of London's soho. The nightlife up there is vibrant.

If you're into the art thing, you might want to head up to Montmartre and Place du Tertre, but day time or weekends might be best.

There's always plenty of stuff to see and do along the Champs Elysees. Lamborghini's cruise by whilst African homeless beg on the pavements. It's a mad world.

Dont expect to much assistance from the locals if you only speak English.

Paris was a cool town when I was there in '96. Spent the weekend there for the Paris Airshow. The people aren't the nicest (especially if you are an Ugly American) as most in Europe but disregard them and suck up the scenery and the history before your eyes.

I'm always amazed that some Americans have the French so typecast.

Every time I visit France, we have a family home near Mont St Michael in Normandy, which is very close to the heart of the American (and Allied) forces WWII invasions, American flags abound. I'm pretty sure it's the French people, and not American tourists who are flying the Stars and Stripes.

I spent five days in Paris last summer, when we were there for a layover on our way to and from South Africa. I took three years of French in high school, (in the late 80's) and did my best to speak French. I had nothing but good experiences with the people there - cabbies, the people selling tokens for the subway, waiters, the hotel staff, everyone was friendly.

So maybe if you took the time to learn at least a little bit of French, you'd get a better reception. Or maybe I just have a friendly face...

I'm having fun here so far. I am trying to at least make an attempt to speak French. Not too much rudeness. We'll see though I still have another few days.

Thanks for the info.... It all helps

Went to the MAG Euro Demo in Paris, but that was 1996. We had 25,000 bikers riding in convoy through the centre of Paris. Was fun when the guy at the front stopped for an ice cream ; )

Great trip, good partying and I think we got noticed!

Walking around checking out the sites and I just happen to run into this place............

It wasn't like I was looking for a Buell dealership........ yea right

Funny thing, I walk in the place and the guy starts speaking to me in French. I have no idea what he is saying so I ask him in French "Do you speak English?" he says "no" Now knowing that some people will tell you they don't speak English even though they do I start asking simple things.

I ask "Do you have 07's" he says "No, September"

I pick up a Buell shirt and point to the back and say "Have Buell shirt with Paris on back?" he says "No, maybe next year"

I start thinking that this guy said he doesn't speak English so I decide to F with him a little and ask "Do you like to bang goats?" He looks at me funny and doesn't say anything. I start laughing and walk out of the shop. This is one memory that I won't forget.

The Harley shop near the Arc d' Triumph has a couple shirts that say Paris down in the basement. There are several other dealers near there (Yamaha etc) but I didn't find any with Paris shirts.

HAHA.... funny.

Did they have a good selection of clothing?

My dealership here has had the same shirts for awhile (old ones.. only like 4 different ones... of which 1-2 are womens) plus it is in Euro and a Mech Shirt costs 65 Euro.

I think they had two, one in dark gray and one in blue (I think) I got the gray one for my bro for 45eur.

Not worth the trip IMO. But the other shops carry some real good riding gear. summer/fall all-weather stuff, lots of boots, real jackets etc.

Just no tourist stuff.

same stuff as in the states.... just more expensive.

The banging goats thing....... I'm still chuckling about that one myself. You should have seen the look on his face when I asked him that. PRICELESS!!!!<----ME <----Frenchie

I amaze myself sometimes with the quick, on the fly, busting balls comments I come up with. And we wonder why the French give Americans attitude.
