I am unhappy with the service at the dealer where I bought my bike, Cerini HD.
Gatto, in Tarentum PA is the next nearest dealer.
I have heard nothing about them.
Anyone who has dealt with them, please let me know how it went.

I live in Whitaker PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh. I wish I knew a good mechanic who can work on Buells.

Old man check for a college in your area that has a motorcycle mech training course. My bike is used for classroom study and they do a great job as they have all the latest equipment and the instructors are very qualified.

What's the issue at Cerini's? I haven't had any problems with them so far. I actually found Dave the service manager to be very knowledgeable.

I don't know about Gatto - I haven't been there in probably 10 years and never had a bike serviced there.

From everything I've heard New Castle is the place to go. I know it's a bit of a haul from where you are but they've got a BRAG chapter, do some racing and some folks I've talked to have had all their performance work done there.

My .02 - sorry I can't help you more.

Did you know about Highland HD/Buell in Somerset, Pa.? My brother has living in Pa. had good things to say about them. He also likes the Dealer in New Castle. Gattos's really does not seem to want to have much to do with Buells. THey are BIG HD.

I have to second the Highland HD/Buell as being a great shop. They did right by me when I was traveling out that way. They also have the cheapest labor rates in the country. About $38 per hour. I was treated so well out there I traveled there to buy my Road Glide from them.

Ikeman,
It's a very long story, they've had my bike for 5 weeks, still not fixed. Bad coil and ECM,(maybe an hours work)
Good luck to you there, I hope you never have the problems I am having with them.
When they ordered the parts, I told the knowlegeable one that my bike had the race ECM (which they installed on the bike before I bought it) He assured me he would make sure to get the right one.- They installed the wrong ECM told me it was fixed, then called back and said they put the wrong one in but would now order the right one.
The last time I had it in their shop to have tires installed the rear brake fell apart on the way home from their shop.

YES - I AM UNHAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE!

Old, I have a guy that runs a Vtwin repair shop out of my building. He's very good, LOVES Buells, good thing, we have 3 of them here at my shop - 2 XBs and a '99 X1. I'm located just north of Altoona. His labor rate is $35/hr. He has also been to HD school when he worked for the local HD stealership, before going out on his own.
PM if you want some more info.

Dan

Thanks for the info Toona, I'll keep it in mind next time I need a repair. Hope to find someone more local but I may not be able to.

Sorry to hear about your service troubles. I've heard good and bad about Cerini but my experience has been good so far.

I didn't mention Highland because I have no experience with them either other than buying a jacket there during their twice a year sale. I also hadn't heard anything good or bad. Although I never mind taking a ride up the mountain to Somerset - you can even hit the Flight 93 Memorial while you're in the neighborhood.

Can't really say much about the service at Gatto's (never tried 'em) and only ever had a tire change and 5K done at New Castle (got it home with an underinflated tire, oil still low!!!) I WOULD NOT buy a bike from either one however. I attempted to buy a Uly from both, but I do NOT kiss anyone's a** to buy a bike from them. Both places don't seem to think too much of Buell buyers. Both were very condescending. Salesman (Kevin) at Gatto's said I couldn't even see the (Uly) 'still in the back'. He basically blew me off on a trade price, walking away from me and my bike to talk to some schmoe. Salesman at New Castle was ok and Buell-friendly, but I had to talk to owner about my trade-in. What a pompous a**. Went their 3 times and when he was finally there, he was too busy trying to get in the pants of a female customer, to give me the time of day.

Can Cerini be that bad?

Bret

Bret,
The sales people at Cerini are very cordial.
But that means nothing when you have a problem with your bike.
