i know there was some talk a while back about replacing the instrument panel lighting (backlighting) with colored lamps but i can't find the thread. a little help,please?

there was also a template given for the panel - same thread i think

If you have a white instrument face, you could probably use LEDs.
This is something I was thinking about doing to my X1.

Perhaps blue would be nice, eh?

pulled the instrument cluster just to take a peek - man, those are some tiny lamps. looks like each is just a simple led but the contact wires are wrapped so intricately around the base/fitting i think it would be nearly impossible as a DIY thing (at least for me). not the kind of lamp you can pick up at Pep Boys, either
