That's great news Steve! It's a lighter carcass Diablo and it'll be available on the road. If... say, you take a nail in your tire the day before homecoming  You can easily get a new Diablo! (Before 12:30a saturday morning's blowout) | ||

Ahh, but just think of the memories we would have missed out on  I wouldn't have done *ANYTHING* different that weekend, besides insisting you ride my bike that 3/4 mile up to the exit ramp! I was hoping for a new S3T replacement(and, please, don't tell me the Uly is the S3T replacement, it's not!), as is every other S3T fanatic. But, it looks to me like a Uly, or a Lightning Long is in my future for '07. I'm going to talk with Kirk over at Hals soon about having his guys try and graft a Uly tail to an SS. I bet it can be done. And if it can, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. | ||

while you're at it Steve mind having him check compatability of uly rearsets on a firebolt? Should be a 3 bolt, spring, and e-clip deal on the left side. I agree I had a great time, but it was important that Kyle not see me give up on a goal I've set for myself once I've started it too. It's going to be hard for my kids to pull the "teen angst" thing on me! Did you ever get the rest of the Homecoming pics together? I saw a few of the ones you'd sent in Fuell! BTW do you know who took the one of Kyle and me that got in that layout? I'd like a larger copy of that one. Say Hi to Thomas and Toni too! | ||

It's a lighter carcass Diablo and it'll be available on the road. That was a major problem with the stock Dunlops. IMHO Any more info on what they did to make it lighter? Looks like I may just stick with the Skorps. | ||

I was hoping for a new S3T replacement(and, please, don't tell me the Uly is the S3T replacement, it's not!), as is every other S3T fanatic. But, it looks to me like a Uly, or a Lightning Long is in my future for '07. As a fellow S3-T fanatic, I couldn't agree more. I tried both the Ss and the X and I went with the Ulysses. The bags are much better functionally than the T bags, and they're a lot bigger, as well. The ride is very comfortable, and it allows for long days without a lot of discomfort. And it corners like you won't believe. It's a damn good bike. But I really would like a fairing with lowers; and a seat height that's a bit lower (2"). And the Uly will never be as pretty as the S3-T. I still think it was the most beautiful bike ever made. | ||

Crusty, I would have to agree with you about the S3, but at this point I can not commit myself to the ULY. No doubt it's a great bike - just doesn't work for me. I prefer more wind protection, plus I do not see myself doing many dirt roads (yet). If I had the $$ I would get a Lightning Long with the Firebolt fairing, Uly tail to accept the luggage a develop so working lowers. Perhaps they could make one and call it a FrankenBuell. | ||

I've spent some considerable time aboard Ulys about 4 weeks ago while helping Hals HD with their demo rides. Crusty, I'm with you 100%. While I appreciate the comfort of the Uly, I'm not entirely comfortable with the height. And you're right. The Uly is the ugly cousin of the S3T An XB12T or XB9T could be nothing more than a "parts bin" bike for Buell. | ||

"what are lowers?" Lowers are wind deflectors that were an option on S2T's and S3's.They attached to the frame under the fuel tank and a lower diagonal frame member. Someone,(Brankin)may correct me on whether they were options or standard equipment. | ||

Someone,(Brankin)may correct me on whether they were options or standard equipment. Fairing Lowers were standard equipment on the '-T' models (S2-T and S3-T), and available as an accessory for the 'non -T' models (S2 and S3). 1999 was a weird year with the Build-To-Order program, so it is conceiveable that some S3's (non-T's) were ordered and built with the fairing lowers. 1313 | ||

1313 right on that '99 was an oddball year. ...technically there were no S3Ts sold in 1999. All were badged as S3s. DAve | ||
