They keep telling me that a Suzuki Hayabusa would make an awesome two up, sport touring machine. I can see it now..... color matched hard bags, tank bag, euro lip tinted windscreen, comfy erognomics for all day riding and a large capacity fuel tank to take in all the sights, sounds and smells at pavement blistering speeds. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...... Limited edition red or that slick glacier white is the only choice to make. Someone please stop me!

Sport touring has just been redefined by the new BMW K12GT.
Saddlebags, trunk, and wifey on board. Left an unintentional black streak leaving a stop light.
Yikes!
As MC Hammer once said "can't touch dis"

The Road Glide or Road King Custom fits the bill for me, but the 20K plus price tag doesn't. Besides, I get the need for speed every once in a while (all the time) and the Road Couches just can't cut the mustard there. Granted they are nice and comfy, the radio is a nice plus, the bags, windshield, fairing and all that stuff. But, me like go fast, vvvrrroooomm! And for half the price of the HD's. There is just something about that Busa baby, it makes my mouth water at times.

I had occasion to ride a Hayabusa once. The power that bike has is pretty awesome. It was very comfortable. I'd tour it.

The Hayabusa is a pretty refined bike for what it is.

It is a Cruise-missile!

I'd have a hard time keeping my license if I had one.

They are large and heavy, but very powerful and stable.

It wouldn't be a bad SPORT-touring rig, as opposed to the Concourse
which is more sport-TOURING IMHO.

Even if they do look a lot like Shamu.

Yo Duc...get your racial slurs right. Chop suey and dim sum are Chinese...hell, I think chop suey might actually more American than Chinese. I know, I know, all us Japs/Chinks look a like...

More on subject, Beachbuell, I think you'd be very happy on a 'Busa. I've never heard any 'Busa owner complain.

>>>>I'm still very partial to the Concourse

Ever seen a Concours ridden poorly? I've been dusted, on two occasions, by Concours ridden VERY well.

The Hayabusa is a spectacular long range platform. My riding partner has a Super-Busa. He got off work at midnight a couple weeks ago, road from Manhattan to Americade...spent the day, left at 10:00pm and headed back to Manhattan. Totally tricked out with GPS, lighting, heat and all the comforts of home.

Hattori- youze chinese and japanese folks don't look too much alike .....hell- europeans (by blood, so euro-americans, too)are hard to distinguish.
japanese folks are primarily chinese, of course. that ainu percentage is still easy to note.
both very proud, very old cultures....tribes from china swept across europe, without 'em we wouldn't have hungary

It's like comparing a Mazda Miata and a Dodge Viper.
The Miata will smoke the Viper in the curves, but the Viper will smoke the Miata on the freeways.
It's all a matter of choice...
Just keep the Buell, AND buy the 'busa.
that way you'll have the best of both worlds... : )

Somewhere around the web is a picture of a BadAzz Busa. Green with color matching full touring luggage,backrest,etc.,etc.... Looked to be an AWEsome rig for the cross country stuff! I'd say listen to the voices.

i sent a couple hours on the back of a street glide this weekend - not too bad for a "grandpa bike". plus it was a experiment for my healing to try being on a motorcycle. too bad i think went backwards a bit in my healing because of it : (

oh well, it was glorious and fun while i was on it.

I'd hold out for the Kawa ZX14 Ninja.

I seen a photo of one as a concept factory sport tourer I think in Cycle World a couple of months ago. There's speculation next year it will be offered.

I would almost be tempted to trade in my Uly for such a machine.

Bigger windsheild, taller bars, factory luggage, more legroom, sub 10 sec. quarters, OH BABY!! Someone please stop me!!

KC...I had a 1990 Connie and the only real suggestion is to put progressive fork springs in if you are still on the originals.

Reason is using the side stand with the OEM springs (even on my then new bike) often presented a tip over as the springs sagged. This was especially noticeable when the saddlebags were loaded.

Other than that, just practice your slow parking lot maneuvers and U-turns as the bike is quite top heavy with a full load of petro.

Enjoy!!!

Wow, thanks for all the support on the Busa! I figured I might get beat to death posting something like that around here.
Hey Outrider.... Correct if I'm wrong, but aren't those ZX-14's already on the market for sale?
The Kawi just doesn't do it for me like the Hayabusa does. Something I can't describe in words happens to me when I get near one.

The perception that we are rabidly against any brand other than Buell here is.....
exaggerated.

A lot of people here own multiple brands of bikes.

People only get up in arms if others start trash talking about our Buells.

Yes,the Hayabusa calls to me also.Alas my motorcycle budget is spent elsewhere for the foreseeable future and revolves around a large motor intended to make a certain hairdryer equipped Buell go reallllll faaasssttt!!!!

Multiple brands,I should say so.Besides 2 Buells there is a Triumph,a KTM,a Yamaha,and 3-4 Hondas.

The Concourse is ok, but I find my 04 is...boring, and also very heavy which is a big problem. For instance, the other day a guy stopped quickly in front of me when I was doing about 50km/hr. I grabbed a big handful of front brake, the wheel locked, then tucked and down we went. On a lighter bike with a lower cg I think I would have been ok. On my Thunderbolt (EBC HH pads and Braking wave rotor) I would have done a little stoppie and been done with it. Ouch. 51 years old is too old to be doing a tumbling act on a 4 lane highway. I think a 'busa would be a better choice. But actually, my Thunderbolt is a darn nice touring bike. I would have been using it that day but my stator went last week.

I was lusting after her again today....

I stopped by the local import bike shop today. They had a nice, used 05 Busa with Yoshimura slip ons and it had the really nice red color scheme paint. As I was in deep thought about seeing her parked in my backyard.... I looked up and there IT was, THE ONE! 06, limited edition white, fresh out of the crate from Japan (Ohio), wow, she gazed into my eyes and gave me an ever so suttle wink as the sales guy wheeled her past me! "Yup, we just got this one, uncrated and setup, I give two days and it'll be sold, the sales guy explained."

I actually sized up the Busa and the Kawi ZX-14 today. That ZX-14 feels like a monster of a big bike, almost feels too big. Needless to say I feel right at home aboard the Suzuki...... Ahhhh, one of these days, one of these days.
