Bad journalism and Squids. And people wonder why we get such a bad rep.

At least there was a Buell in it!

I agree completely. There was no objectivity in that report. For every one of those that they interviewed, I'm sure they could have found a responsible rider who understands safety.

Man, I hate the media.

Of course it's the motorcycle's fault.

I think we need to explore the safety of milk too. A buddy told me a funny joke while I was drinking a glass of milk and suddenly without warning, it shot out my nose! It burned, and it could have killed me, you know, if I had maybe a quart & a half in my mouth, I might have drowned! It's the cows fault I tell Ya! They're planning to take over the world!

Man, I hate the media.

"They're just machines of death."

This story is a little one-sided. What about all the people I see driving their cages while eating, reading, shaving, applying make-up, etc. Many viewers will see this story and it will reinforce their negative views toward motorcycling.

How about doing a piece on how motorcycles help the environment and reduce traffic and parking congestion.

I guess I'm just preaching to the choir.

Now how about fair and balanced, and show a crew up in the mountains having a nice Sunday ride. Talk with them, and find out what they feel about the Squids on their Machines of Death

Yeah I smell an editor with a mission. They had a slant/spin to put on the story,
and they made it stick. Not the first time, and it won't be the last time either.

Sadly, my view is that the story is fairly accurate albeit for a small segment of motorcyclists. I guess that is the gripe though, that the report does not tell the whole story. Cool of them to provide contact info for moto safety courses though.

Slow news day, no terrorists or murderers to talk about so they need to demonize something or we won't watch, right?
Kill your TV and ride!

Makes perfect sense to me...
Rogue bikes thrash their riders all the time.
Firearms jump up and shoot innocent bystanders.
Kamikazi cups of coffee dive toward unsuspecting laps.
Is there nothing we can do to protect ourselves from these inanimate monsters.

Maybe we can get that Bueller to join us at Detroit Metro Hooligans!!!!!!!!!!!

Detroit Metro Hooligans did a ride today, and we averaged 75 to 80 mph while on the freeway. We were being passed left and right by cages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spidey should be the one to say this:

With great Horse power comes great responsibility.

It would be nice if the story was about the misuse of motorcycles rather than the whole death machine drama they drummed up.

It just seems weird that the 2 bikes they caught were "Slow" v-twins a buell and a BMW. They caught some rare bikes (as compared to the speedy jap bikes on the roads). Maybe these were the only one the motorcycle cop could catch. Or maybe BMW and buell riders pull over for cops. Unlike the many IL4 that will just run off.

Just my observations.

The reporters hunt down people that will literally say anything to be on TV.
They bait them into saying things that will slant in the direction they want,
and then with a little editing magic you get these idiots smiling on TV running
their mouths trying to be cool.
