Anyone catch the reference to a 130 HP Buell in Mr Leno's collection in this months Cycle World? Around page 67 in the Six in the City article. Anyone know details about the bike?

Yes It was bought from Hal's during the 100th anniversary and I think the factory had a hand in its build up.Its a red 12R.

I think the exact location of his garage is a semi-secret isn't it?

A bunch of photos of his collection (cars & bikes) can be seen at:

A red XB12R can be seen in a couple of the bike photos if you look REALLY closely.

What in the world is that thing in the front/center of the bottom pic?

It doesn't look as...tasteful as most of Jay's other bikes. It's certainly not a
restoration like most of them with those forks.

Not sure. Is that the chopper that OCC built that was based on an old bike? Looks like it might be but can't tell from the angle.

It was "inspired by" Leno's 1939 Brough Superior, which is evidently one of his favorite bikes.

Brough's were also the ride of choice of Lawrence of Arabia.

Ahh yes.... The magical single wire electrical job.. I'll bet it took a while for Jays mechanic to figure that one out! hehehehehehe.. Poor guy, stranded somewhere in LA on a piece of non-working butt adornment.. Oh well.. I'm sure Jay had a working bike delivered in time to make his next .. uh.. pass on the boulevard.. or whatever..

Ok, that explains it. OCC strikes again. I should have known, it looks a little cartoonish.

You say it broke down on him? What a surprise, you mean those bikes aren't meant to be ridden?

I heard something like the ignition was wired through the tail light. Blown bulb= dead bike.

Bottom pic, far left, front row.

Looks like an oil drip pan sitting under it.

Seth is right.. The entire bike was wired in line - meaning the same line was taking the total load for the machine. When the tail light bulb blew, it took out the entire electrical system.

At least none of the hard parts fell off this time.. Nor did the frame separate at a weld.. OCC is really getting their act together, now that the craze is dying out.. (I hope) they are reported to be thinking of doing service on their machines now.. (they must have hired a mechanic by accident)

They do have a service department, check the OCC website. I notice they don't post the hourly rate.

I would never want any of those guys working on anything I drive. They spend way too much time screwing around and they eyeball damn near everything.

I watched a bit the other night... they were making some custom bars for the POW bike... they cut them too short. So Paul Senior says, "put some spacers in it"

WTF!?!?!?!? SPACERS?!?! On my $50,000+ bike? To hell with that, you better cut me some new bars ya knuckle head!!!

They make some very nice looking 800 pound paperweights. And another thing... whats the deal with jacking a gas tank up in the air so high that you can't even see over the bars. Fuel tank right in the line of vision and the front end raked out till next week. Stupid.

that's how the old two stroke 90cc Harleys were wired. May be that is what OCC learned on? Took me a while to get that bike running I must admit.

Yes Jay DOES ride it.We saw him at the Rock Store a while ago on it.In fact he left early , one of the SoCal Buellers pulled up next to him at a light and Jay commented on how nice this Buellers bike was.
