I have found nothing works. So I wear a bathing suit under my mesh and just enjoy the free pressure washing. Cold rain sucks. But ya gotta love those warm summer storms!

Well, I dont even bother with the bathing suit.. My normal gear is my rain gear...EXCEPT, in freezing conditions..

In those conditions, I use the rain liner from my odl Pheonix jacket, and some of those nylon wind pants(lined), over longjohns, and some sort of sweatshirt...

KAPOK, if we are thinking of the same thing, its a personal safety floatation device thing, witha dye pack, straps around the waist, and when it inflates, you loop the inflated part over your head...

+1 on the suit from the evil empire(walmart). you can't beat the durability/price.

Fullpower,

I LOVE my aerostich. I it really a shame they could get one to fit you.
Before I ordered mine I spent the afternoon with my tailor taking careful measurements. I really didn't have time to waste sending the suit back. Surprisingly a 40 long (right off the rack) fit me beautiful. When I got I was surprised at the room in the seat area. I even called to inquire about it, they asked if I had worn the suit while ride yet. Well the extra room didn't make sense until I went for a ride. The extra slack is taken up when leaned over the tank, while using your legs to grip the frame.

Maybe if you ever make it through Minnesota, go stop by their shop. I bet they could build one while you're there...

I've found that ultra-cheap vinyl rainsuits work fine. Keep a few under the seat, in the ruck, etc.

Help!! It's monsoon season here. Can anyone recommend rain gear that can stand up to a 100 or so mile ride in the rain? So far TourMaster and First Gear appear to meet my requirements.
This is what I want: The pants have to have heat shields on both legs; I ride a Road King as well as the X1 and be easy to get into with your boots on (don't want to do the dance on the side of the road)
The jacket has to have a high neck and close tight. A soft lining there would be nice. There should be a flap over the zipper that's held closed with Velcro. Also the cuffs need to have Velcro closings so they can be made tight enough to keep the rain out.
I've had 2 HD rain suits. One kept me dry for 15 years no matter how hard or long it rained. The next one lasted 5 years before the seams in the pants began to leak.

Any and all suggestions and comments are welcome!

I have the Buell suit too, red, and it works well. Check dealers, like Daves.

In cold weather I have both my FXRG Leather Jacket and First Gear Kilimanjaro which work great. I have been in all day rain with no problem but anything over 80°F is too hot for it. I am thinking about using my First Gear Rain Jacket with the Harley pants. The First Gear only problem is a pin hole in the seam of the pocket. If it rains hard enough, long enough you get a basket ball size wet spot on the stomach but nothing as bad as the Harley jacket that just gave up after 100 miles

The Tourmaster Elite rain pants with the Nomex panels can be a pain in the butt to put on . The lining grabs the soles of your boots, and you have to wrestle to get the pants leg over the boots. Once on, they work great, and mine has lasted over a year, so far. Make sure you try them on before you buy them; the sizing tends to run small.

I'm wondering the same thing. However, if it's made like the HD, we just spent $110 for him to get soaked! We need pictures!

Daves has some in red, however he says that new black ones are coming out. I don't know the price, as I'm not ready to fork out another $100.

M2nc: "I am thinking about using my First Gear Rain Jacket with the Harley pants." Which Harley pants are they? The big bux gortex ones ($155) or did they come as part of a suit?

Fastgirl - they came as part of a suit. The are the nylon rain pants, not gortex. The entire suit was $110.

PM sent.
