Seriously guys:

I think it will be more comfortable for my girlfriend than a XB12R (still much worse than my current BMW R1100S though).

and they go cheaper.

And maybe a nicer sound?

Only drawback is the chain drive (cleaning)

The 955 is a bit of a porker and not exactly an exciting ride but it's good at being most things to most people, most of the time. Kindof like a British VFR .

Have you thought about a different girlfriend ?

And maybe a nicer sound?

They actually sound pretty bad a**.

My buddy, whose X1 we were going through, last summer and this winter, has a 955i..

I will say this about it...

SWEET.

The tripple is a great comprimise between a twin and an inline 4..great torque, and still has the revs to have some serious rpm and hp.. He has one with the single side swing arm, and the low pipe(not undertail)..

Anyway, after riding one of those, i would have no shame in announcing my love for the bike...wait, I think I did just that..

Though, me, I would pick the speed tripple....

Yes have riding it...a couple different models...

What i really like about the triumph..

the 955i, and the Speed Triple 955, are essentially the same bike, and I actually think the Triple performs better...not the typical "dumbed" down version of a factory race replica..

I love both bikes, but, again, would probay take the Speed Triple given the opportunity(i.e. money)....

I will have to agree as I had a Daytona and only sold it because my wrists could not take the lean.Have a Sprint ST now and it is a really nice bike. Great sound, torque, and handling.Has heated grips, nice rack, love the single-sided swingarm--just put a sweet Dymag on the back.

That's cos you haven't explained it to her properly.

You know.... how life before you met her was empty & meaningless, but you really NEED 2 bikes to feel complete!
& it'll be cost effective as they're both future classics.
& how you need a spare bike for when one of your overseas friends comes to visit.

Get creative.

I rode a Sprint ST last summer and really enjoyed it. Be careful though, my neighbor's threw him over the handlebars a couple of weeks ago. (I think the bike didn't like going so slow through the corners).

Oh...man!

I got another speeding ticket (second this month)

Maybe I should look for a naked bike, it might reduce my cruising speed...

Speed triple? Buell lightning?

I need something which will provide lots of pleasure for not so much speed....

I told my bride the following:

Multiple bikes or multiple women. You get to choose.

I'm so glad she picked the bikes . . . . and that she has a sense of humor.

I can assure you, either one of those will get you into trouble just as fast as any otehr bike..

Believe me, both are quick, hard stopping, nimble, attention getting bikes...

And, in capable hands, an X1 is MORE than capable of out-running cops...}

"And, in capable hands, an X1 is MORE than capable of out-running cops... "}

You forgot the winkie/smilie thing. ;)

I've seen a CrownVic cruiser airborn chasing a bike, he caught it. And the old adage still applies, you might outrun or outmaneuver the cruiser, but not the Motorola.

(And we won't talk about my previous life, and it wasn't me the Vic was after, could have been, but wasn't, I stopped in the woods on the dirt bike with a good view of the show.)

The only real control of avoiding tickets is throttle control. Mopeds and scooters get tickets around here for foolishness and such. There was recently an old Yamaha RD250 posted nearby for sale that would have been sweet to play with, full throttle, probably rarely hit freeway speeds, easily drag pegs, but someone else got it.

Here, the cops don't chase you, they just take a nice picture... there's no escaping it...

I should look at a sportster then...

or a vespa scooter...... *sigh*

I rode a 955i and all I have to say is that it is an over weight, underpowered pig of a motorcycle. Probably one of the most disappointing and unexciting motorcycles I've ridden. No way I would even think of getting one, but do what makes you happy

I agree, and any bike is better than no bike, but there are about a gazillion other motorcycles that I would chose before the 955i. It was just bland for me personally. Now a new Speed Triple or 675 would fit the bill nicely

Nasty, Which 955i did you ride? Cuz the Daytona has 130 rear wheel horse power and is pretty nimble.

I have an 02 Speed Triple and it dyno'd at 115 hp to the rear and it rips. There the same bike minus the HP for the Speed three and minus the body work.

Just wondering.

I have seen the 675 in person and it is indeed a sweet bike.Too bad they were not giving demos as it was the only one on the west coast at the time.

Well, I had an XB12R, and now have a 955i. They are both fantastic, but not everyone (i.e. me) can/will afford both, so here's my two cents:

Of the two, the Firebolt was more comfortable, simpler, stronger at low rpms, lighter, easier to get parts for, and got slightly better mileage.

The Daytona is faster, more stable, roomier, and has better wind/weather protection and a longer tank range.

I love them both and really, what little negative can be said about each isn't worth mentioning. If I lived someplace with lots of curvy roads I would have never let go of the XB. For wide open spaces there's not many sportbikes that offer the usability 955i. Well, except a Hayabusa!

I hope this helps a little!

Jim, I have been working on everything. Just was working on the washer.Seems the engine to Transmission coupler does'nt last forever. Before that it was a K&N filter on the Speed Three.

Were riding both the Speed Triples to Laguna. Licence Plate Bracket? Ya, Got the Bike close to running? Just kidding, I will get to the grind stone on Monday.
