Ah well, the first thing I can tell you, at least the only thing i THINK I can tell you, as I have never had this question answered completely...

I belive teh M2 is sprung different...

But, I cant find any FACTORY evidence either to support, or disprove that claim..

once I find out, it will either open up a window for a new shock for me, or...I will be stuck with my limited options...

I don't think the M2 is sprung different.
I bought a shock from a chopper-tard on EBAY and it was from an M2.
I just bolted it right on and it feels the same.

I even copied the adjustments over and it's ok.
Just make ure that the overall length is correct.

The early M2 had a shock without the remote reservoir. It was a cost cutting measure to bring the price down to more affordable levels, along with conventional forks and the lack of a tach. After the last recall, all the tubers got the same shock. If your shock has a remote reservoir, it's the latest shock, and it should fit on the S1, S3 and X1, as well as the M2. (I don't know if it'll fit an S2)

So as long as its not from a early M2, it shoudl fit?(barring resevior difference)?

I knwo there was 2 different eye-eye lengths? 14 adn 16 or something like that, where does that fall into place?

There are two different front shock mounting plates for the two different lengths.

Personally, I just looked at the picture and saw it was the same as mine.

I just measured mine as 15" (completely retracted)

with the rider seated on the bike and their weight on it the shock should measure 15.2"~15.5" eye to eye
you adjust the spring preload ( hex that is part of the can ) then lock it down with the jam nut remember to grease 1/2 of the nut before tightening.
