BACK ON THE ROAD TERRORIZING CHILDREN, and blue-hairs...

Well, I ended up having to illicit the help, of a local indy shop(one of which I will continue to deal with as needed)...

Took the pipe off..and go tin the to have a look...

The BOTTOM stud, was WAY F***KED UP.

It had apparently broke on the previous owner, and I missed this in the exhuat swaps...

Anyway, the lower stud was in crokked..heli-coiled..only half in etc..I wonder how I managed to put some many miles on it..

Anyway, the upper stud(the one that snapped while riding, adn I nwo have no doubts as to why), ended up being a pain, but, it came out..had to drill it, and used some metric parts..(I now have 8mm sutds in teh front head)..

Drilled out the the jacked heli coil..and the remainder of the stud that intially broke on the previous owner..

Got out the mig(with alloy wire of course..), adn slowly, adn carefully filled it...fill, drill, fill drill...

Anyway, doing this without cooking the head..

Anyway, drilled it(using the gide tool on teh now good stud, without it, woudl not have come out right..), tapped it, used another insert, MUCH BETTER than a heli coil, though, the name escapes me now..

Anyway, ITS RUNNING..

I did between half, adn 2/3s of the work, on a lift in the back of his shop, and I guess I am a standy by if he needs one..

Anyway, took up the lift most of the day..only charged 100 bones, and a couple beers later..

Borrowing a set of bars until my bars from Wardan come in...(I will be out ona research vessle next week, and they are trying to let me ride ....

Anyway, enough of this chit chatting...

I AM GONNA GO RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND, I also want to thank, DaveinFL, Cochise, and Wardan, ya'll were instrumental in helping a broke brother out.. I owe you guys...

I agree. I far prefer the timeserts to heli-coils.
I've installed a lot of both as a machinist and the timeserts are the more precise and permanent choice.

Chase,
I see you were able to pick up the bars... I am not sure what the problem was--- are they going to work?
Will you post pics?

I have used many timeserts over the years. I wont consider a helicoil unless I am forced.

Well, there was as typo on teh apartment number..

it said 1028, instead of 1208..no biggie..the UPS hub is only liek 7 miles from the me...

I have them on there now...and, I know they are not on there as intended..but, I am giving them a whirl, to see what I think...I like having narrow bars again..thats a plus, but the pull back, is well...

ALL, I am TRYING to save up for a camera..and as soon as I have one, or can borrow one, I will have pics... I PROMISE...haha...I would never use one otherwise...
