Madduck (Paul Elliot) sould be the Buelligen of the year. It takes a realy stand up guy to do what he did. I couldn't have done it. Hey Paul if you are ever near Dawson you are always welcome to stop in and say Hi. Al |

No argument there. Everyone who has been mentioned is deserving. Remember though, this will be a yearly thing so everyone who deserves the honor will eventually get it. I consider this years award to cover all the years since the foundation of BMC to June, 2006. Next year it will be the person who has had the most positive impact between June, 2006 and June, 2007. I think that the person that has had the most positive influence on the Buell community since the founding of BMC is of course Erik himself. Can I get a second to that nomination and a vote to carry the motion? |

If we're looking at it that way then... Who has done the most for Buell and the enthusiasts (and I believe the purest form of enthusiast is a racer)... There's only one choice... Henry Duga. |

I'm rather afraid we'll have as many opinions on who's eligible & the voting system, as we have candidates. I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my Uncle.... Not screaming in terror like his passengers!

My friend LaFayette is another worthy candidate. He went WAY above and beyond for all of us who attended this year's Daytona event. Road Thing deserves some kind of medal for putting himself out there and inviting a horde of Biker maniacs to his really cool Ranchito. As you know, helping to maintain our site here is purely the fantasy of an egomaniacal control freak. So please exclude me from the list too. I'm not worthy. Jerry was the original Bueller of the decade if that award were ever put forth. That man gave more of himself and his family out of pure unadulterated enthusiasm for Buell motorcycles and the wonderful folks who ride them than I ever could, which is why he'll always, no matter what he might choose to keep as his personal motorcycle du jour, have a place here as counselor/advisor and valued contributor. I gotta change my vote. I vote for Jerry aka "Ferris Bueller"! And that is my final answer! Did I ever tell ya that Jerry also helped kick off our little communty here? He sure did. Bomber ranks right up there with the best of BadWeB and Buellers in general too. Bill - need a speedo sensor filter - Kilgallon is another one who selflessly aided scores of other Buellers in need. And what would we be doing without MikeJ? Geez! Too many great folks to ever think about listing here. How about that EZBlast and his Thumperific forum? As much as he's put up with from me, he deserves some serious applause and recognition. Who else? |

Well, you guys feel free to debate. I don't think that we can resolve this in time for Homecoming, which had been my goal. Maybe the best thing to do is come up with a better way to nominate and vote for individuals. Once we do that, we can have this done in plenty of time for Homecoming next year. |

I can change a tire pretty quick with a suitable team mate, but apparently putting all the stuff back in the trunk in the proper order is completely beyond me . |

Blake, you're too kind. your check WOULD be in the mail, but i already sent one to Bartimus, and i'm tapped out right now... Indy, as mentioned earlier in this thread, you're behind the curve as far as time to make this thing very complicated for this year. Erik is a natural, no one will begrudge the choice (except Erik, and he's easy), and NEXT year you/us can set up a nomination and voting protocol that gives everyone plenty of time to participate. Erik's nomination has been seconded... FB |

besides, if Erik's name is at the top of the plaque, it makes it very difficult for him to say no when you ask him if you can hang the plaque in his lobby... |

and there lies the problem with such an award. Too many deserving people here on Badweb(and elsewhere) to ever decide. I have, and I tell people this often, met some of the finest people I will ever have the pleasure of knowing because of my involvement with Buell and Badweb. Now who's sounding like a Hallmark Ferris? Buell of Appleton WI 1-866-757-1651 ask for Dave in the sales dept

Jerry, you are right on all counts. If no one has s serious problem with it then, I say that Erik Buell is the Buelligan of the Year. The plaque will have to come later of course. Now I just have to figure out when/where to make the award! Daves, when is your party? Friday night? |

I thought about this and read through this thread If I might put forth some thoughts 1. Buelligan of the year, is an individual with no business interests relating to the award. my list Aaomy for posting info and projects Madduck for provinding the sled for Ferris. Ferris for the time on board and over all involvement in the community, in good and bad times. Road Thing: for ride to the Ranchito Vegas Buller, no explanation needed. Buelligans' sponsor award for contributions beyond the bottom line (all of our sponsors are excellent) My picks: Al @ American Sport Bike new products Daves @ Appelton Hd service Clown @ Stone Mountain service and another award In your corner, there could be serveral here. These are the folks that you want to contact for help, to converse with, ride with, and share the joy of the ride with this is non commercial as well. My Picks Blake: Bomber Aaomy Ferris Court FMJ 1313 Chase NateXL1000 Hans Henrick Glitch Repicheep Buellistic Thanks for your attention The right thing is not always the easy thing, but its always the best thing, From the porch the Ol Dog

i'm a "keep it simple" kinda guy, Ol Dog - i still like the idea of one "Bueller of the Year", and i have no problems if that person makes his/her living in the business. if someone like Dave Stueve or Al Lighton garnered enough votes to win the award, it would mean they were doing something right - VERY right - to have that sort of fan base, and that kind of admiration doesn't just come automatically when you're a business person, it must be earned. we've all heard countless horror stories about sub-par Buell dealers, parts purveyors, etc. so when someone comes along, like Al, or Dave, or Danny Goldsmith, or Jerry Johnson (and there are others), who rise so far above the rest that they achieve "superstar" status, well, that doesn't come from flipping on the "Open" sign each morning. that comes from being good and caring and honest people, who, in this case, just happen to be in the Buell business. and who have thus earned enough respect and admiration from their peers - not by their title or job description, but by their ACTIONS - to be considered for Buelligan of the Year. one man's humble opinion. Thanks Jerry, I felt that the sponsors deserved credit for their contributions to our community seprate from the buelligan award which is why suggested it there are a lot of special folks that may not garner enough votes for BOoTY but should be mentioned for a special act, hence the "in your corner" Simple is good, my problem is I like choice, variety is the spice of life. Interesting discusion. Bueller of the Year. Looks like your commentary indicates that there should be several categories for the award. Manufacturers, Sponsors, webmaster and custodians, MotoScribes, BRAG Organizers and Just Folks who live an breathe Buells. In all fairness, why not just vote on the die hard Buell owner that has done his/her best to promote the sport and the brand unselfishly in the interest of others here on the BWB. If that is the criteria, I would like to nominate Bomber and a dozen others that meet his level of dedication. No glory mongers there and better yet, real everyday constructive contributors to the BWB. In my opinion, anyone not meeting this simple sort is just looking for something to add to their "Wall of Shame." Life's a roller coaster. Enjoy the ride!

us Buell lovers have gotten to see some wicked awesome offerings from Buell in recent history - incl the uly, the lightning long, and of course, the XBRR! Buell dealer sponsored track days! a serious "company-supported" race effort! Willie G in a Buell racing shirt at daytona! 4 racers entering daytona! McWilliams coming back for Infineon! a Queensryche charity ride! Tourist Trophy! Raving Cycle World reviews! a prez who shows up at homecoming last year on his cityX and kicks ass at battletrax and takes time to answer our questions one by one! may I humbly suggest and nominate the prez of Buell - Mr. Flickinger? |
