Peter, This is a wonderfully fun and informative place. I have no vendetta against anyone. That kind of miserableness is a waste of the wonderful life and gifts with which God has blessed me. You are barking up the wrong tree. Aaron is welcome back here anytime he likes. I've always been 100% open to a total forgive and forget and start fresh scenario. He knows that. I think that would be absolutely wonderful. I'm not angry. I once was. Said some things that I regretted. Apologized sincerely to all for doing so and offered heartfelt reconciliation on a number of occassions, both publicly and privately. I'm totally at peace with myself now. I need to be comfortable with myself and my sense of personal integrity. I am 100% at peace and entirely comfortable knowing my honor and integrity are intact, no matter the miserableness that some see fit to spout or the consternation they see fit to air in public. While that may be irritating to me and misleading to folks reading it who may unwittingly accept it on faith, I know the truth, and that is what really matters. I'm not running for public office and I don't have anything to sell. Just trying to maintain the integrity of this here little discussion board. A few folks don't like how I go about it; they may not respect the policies here or me or other custodians. Those with integrity, cease participation and go on about living, not sniping and maligning all over the internet. You really want to air this out publicly? I am an honest man. I am a fair and honorable man. I am also a flawed man, and anyone who expects better will likely be sorely disappointed. If I had a personal vendetta against anyone, I would post that fact to its own discussion thread and lay it all out for everyone to see. There would be no mistaking it. I endeavor always to say exactly what I mean. With Blake, you will ALWAYS know where you stand. If you don't know, ask and I'll sure tell you. I simply want to avoid being dragged down to the level of miserableness in which some see fit to dwell. I'd much rather try to help lift them up to the light. Again, I'm human like everyone else and prone to all the same flaws and emotions. I'll leave the evidence there for all to see and apologize when in the wrong. I'm taking the rest of the day off and working on my bike and doing some landscaping on account of right now, I have no job. Sometimes, unemployment ain't all that bad. Paul, You've delayed my escape. You're right, no payrol here. I think the analogy remains valid. Court is more than welcome talk about his S2 and the work being done on it. He's done so before including photos and all, and I thought it was absolutely wonderful. I used to brag about my Cyclone, lots of folks here talk about their hot-rodded Buells. Guys with bikes from Hobans, Hals, and any number of non-sponsor shops talk about their bikes here. What they don't do is to repeatedly use that as a launching pad for so much promotional glory-speak about the non-sponsor shop that did the work and then suggest that folks go visit their web site. Of course they aren't usually aren't good buddies with the shop owner either. Craig, From what I know, you are wonderful and a real asset to the community here. You may be easily amused too. |

Hmmmm, on second thought Paul, maybe a PBS model, viewer supported site might not be such a bad idea? Hmmmm, that plus sponsorship, more sponsors, increased fees, donations, government subsidies (MikeyP will testify that I am a black and someone here once stated I was a woman) plus selling shares in the place, going public... bwahahahahah! Nah, then Bill Gates would want in and ruin everything! |

I simply want to avoid being dragged down to the level of miserableness in which some see fit to dwell.} Amen, brother!! Congrats on being married for that long! In this day and age of trendy marriages, you really don't see people keeping the commitment of "til death do us part". I commend you and your bride for keeping the faith. Love the site, but as all people need to realize that this is a free site to the masses and that just like life, there are rules to follow. If there were no rules how could we function as a society? And just like the country we live in, if you don't like the rules, then there are other places they can go until they find the rules or unruly}ness they want!!! Cagers on cells deserve a good throttle rev!!!

Just the simple fact that this board represents the most complete collection of Buell ownership information on the internet should be justification enough for it to be run as a business. Anyone who's posted here for any time can see the time that Blake puts into running this board. Considering the expenses he's already mentioned, there is also his time to consider. There used to be a Buell magazine, Battletwin. It was great while it lasted, but it wasn't free. The amount of information on this board exceeds the entire production life of Battletwin. I for one would fully encourage Blake to run it more like a business, but also to start drawing some pay if it were available. I mean, doing what you love is great but getting paid for it is even better. |

Right on, people. I think this thread is a testimony to the character of people that frequent this board and call it theirs. Class 1 people. |

"Me? I •••• off sponsors all the time. Then I get criticized for not supporting them or for trying to tell them how to run their business or even for betraying them." Blake - I had to chuckle when I read the above comment. Remember Buckinfubba's response to your criticism last year? You had the Drummer boys fairly riled up I'd say. Well, all things pass. When the dust settles a bit, I'll speak to my neighbor Mr. Canfield. Maybe we can work it out like gentlemen. |

As a sponsor, I'd like to add a "sponsor" perspective. I don't mind people mentioning products they like. Even links are fine with me, because, frankly, if it's for a product people want, hey, *I* might want to buy it too! It's just as important for me to see what people are saying about the "competition" as anyone else. That being said, it would be OK with me if people didn't say anything *TOO* mean about us without giving us a chance to make it right. We're all human, and I know we make mistakes - I just hope that we can make it right before anything gets out of hand. That is more of a concern to me than other people or products being mentioned. *THAT* is what I consider to be "sponsor support". Also, from a marketing perspective, you may get more sponsors if you allow a few plugs here and there - maybe contact that person a few weeks later and see if he noticed an increase in orders or inquiries. I mean, hey, they may not know what they're missing, right?? In fact, if it wasn't for Court, we may not have become sponsors - at least not as fast! He probably broke your rules, or at least bent them, by supporting one of our first events, when Erik came to visit us, and helped us "promote" T-Shirts, before we were official sponsors. Somewhere there is a thread where I say something like, please don't off Blake, are you sure it's ok since we're not sponsors? And a follow up from Blake, something about making an honest woman of me. I forget the details. But Court's enthusiasm, along with everyone else's, is what drew me to this site, both as a sponsor AND as a regular poster/reader. Anyway, if it worked for us, it may work for others. Just a thought, and to let you know that from my perspective, a few innocent plugs about a genuinely good product or shop, is not going to offend me at all. In short, I appreciate your unending support. I hope we are deserving of your loyalty. But I think there may be more people out there who would be interested if they knew the potential. Thanks so much Michelle. I sure do appreciate your comments. And I agree with you almost entirely. To clarify, it is mostly the repeated promoting of a non-sponsor that we view as problematic. We view it especially problematic when said non-sponsor is one who sees fit to deride BadWeB in other public forums and who have made it clear that they have no desire to ever even participate in our little community here. Anyone is welcome to post any manner of pg-rated link/promotion on our "Links" page. Thanks again! We're honored to have you. And Court should he ever choose to return. |

Jersey, Didn't "gentlemen" used to settle serious conflict with pistols at twenty paces? Call me a coward if you must, but if that is the scenario, I'm not too keen for a dual with a Marine who is perfectly comfortable climbing around on 300,000 volt power lines and who has been honed to a fine edge by his Italian-American Wall Street mogul wife. |

This recent um... disagreement... amongst some of the participants of the Buell forums is not terribly interesting to me. I just want to keep my sweet little XB happy, as happy as she keeps me, and the Badweb has proven to be a great resource for this. Blake, your policies regarding promotion of outside businesses is hardly an overly-restrictive burden for forum participants. The policy must be applied consistently, of course, to be fair to all. But I see no evidence that it has not been applied fairly---no favoritism one way or the other. Its a simple policy; how could anyone not understand the need for it? Just out of curiosity I strolled over to the Sacborg just now to see how it goes over there. Hadn't been there in a long time. I just got a good reminder of WHY I never felt comfortable over there. My God, the profanity, and even worse, the rudeness and crudeness of the participants to one another's posts. I've got no objection to strong language, I swear at stuff all day, every day, but is a little self-restraint in a public forum too much to ask for? I felt like I was slogging around in a swamp. And to top it all off some guy is posting unhinged leftist political rants... No thanks. I'll just keep posting over here, where the level of discourse is reasonably civil. Thanks to all! |

SacBORG has a lot of talented people who call the place home, and obviously provides a lot of value for a lot of folks. it may not be for everybody, but neither is BADWEB. FB |

I have no dogs in this fight but the way I see it is that BadWeb and SACBORG serve two different purposes. SACBORG is like a frat party in progress complete with a keg of beer upstairs and a laundry basin overflowing with p*ss in the basement. Man, that IS a fun party. BadWeb is more like a library where a spinsterly librarian will shush you if you get out of line. BadWeb is dedicated to the Buell community and one of its main charters is to provide a repository of information about Buells free of charge. There are ample chat rooms in the library for people to socialize. I like both places but maintenance of libraries cost more money than frat parties and that is the bottom line why this place has more rules and regulations so that everyone can have continued access to the Buell repository. |

... parents got a divorce now the family fractures and sides. People you admire, value, and really like don't visit anymore. The bottom line is everyone looses. Yes I've used that analogy before. DAve |

A right fine bunch of proper people you are too! When I come to Badweb I feel like I'm wearing raingear with fish blood at a formal dinner party. I seem to fit right in at Sacborg, but I think I disgust them too, occasionally. My vulgar personna is more than that, it defines me. I'm a coarse and vulgar person. I'm trying hard to improve and grow so I like to hang out here a little bit to improve my manners. My latest role model is Rocket. My Buell is green and has elkhorn footpegs. |

I agree with Dave. I ride my motorcycle in my free time. I Don't spend all my time posting about it in seven different boards. So now I may be missing valuable info because people decided to go elsewhere. I don't know where I going with this, but thought I would throw it out there. |

When I come to Badweb I feel like I'm wearing raingear with fish blood at a formal dinner party. I busted a gut when I read that!!!. The irony of all this is that there have been a heck of a lot more Snail sightings around here lately since cuzins started feuding. Its good to see you, Snail (just wipe the fish blood off your feet at the door) JimA4Media and Blake have gotten along famously as well as civilly in public although one would have suspected there wouldn't have been a specimen left standing when they got to it a while back. They found a way to listen and respect each other over time. Unfortunately this has also been prophesized as a sure sign of Armegeddon. I suspect all this shtuff will eventually blow over. Thats my hope anyway. -Forger (on SACBORG) |
