Has anyone put an XB12 ECM on a tube frame Buell, or at least investigated the idea? In the past, that probably wasn't a good idea, since I'm sure that the fueling was different. But with DirectLink, we can now change the fuelling, so that part isn't an issue.

In particular, I'm curious if anyone has researched the pinouts on the connectors between the two ECMs. Do they match? The sensors inputs are LIKELY the same, though I don't know if the TPS on the old vs new throttle bodies have the same throttle angle vs voltage curve. The IAT and head temp sensor are the same.

The new ECMs run an improved version of DDFI, and that new version has mappable Accel and Decel functions. The tuber ECMs don't have those functions.

If anyone has started this investigation, I'd sure like to hear your findings. If no one has, I'll likely start investigating.

Al

Well...damn, now I think I will have to look into it...at least see if the values on the TPS are the same/similar...

Well, i will try...

AL can you get me a wiring diagram for an XB I have the FSM for My Tuber, and can check the signals, the XB12 has a servo, how about a late mod xb9 (no servo)

I was wondering about that too.
Mine has ALWAYS sputtered from time to time.
My friend's XB12 NEVER does anything other than run.

I've looked into the pinouts, and they look pretty much the same. The only differences that looks significant are:

The Gray 8 is the Speed sensor input on an CB, and is a BAS sensor ground on the Tuber. I think a tuber would happily still sense speed at it's speedo. But would the XB ECM flip out to not see it?

The Gray 5 is Keep alive (+12V presumably, maybe fan running related after key off) on an XB, is a no connect on a tuber. Likely easy to wire a 12V connection from the battery to this pin if needed, but if it's just for the XB fan control, do you need it if you don't run a fan on a tuber?

The Gray 6 is fan control on the XB, is a no connect on a tuber. I don't really understand this circuit. With a single wire, it both controls the fan and knows if the fan is working. Can someone look at the trouble code 36 description in their manual and describe what is happening on this pin, and describe how it could be spoofed to not throw a code?

Any help on this?

Thanks,
Al
