that was AWESOME ... when I worked as a Naval contractor I had the chance for a couple of Carrier based take offs and landings ... I can tell you that I did not pass out .. almost lost the previous days lunch though. I did not eat dinner or breakfast before the flight and the pilots and crews all had bets as to how long I would last before I hurled in the mask. I NEVER DID !!!!! was the best damn ride EVER !

Watching people pass out is definitely one of the most solid comedy acts ever. I almost fell over laughing as he explained himself passing out.

Even flying onto the Carrier on the "Cod" (or greyhound) is exciting.
It's much cooler than being flown in on a 53 or 46.

I managed to wrangle one amazing flight in an f-14 in the RIO seat.
Still gets the adrenaline pumping thinking about it.

The funny thing is I got the ride after I got out of the
Navy. I was going out for sea trials as a contractor.

It's funny how much more respect I got on board as a
civilian than I ever got as an mm2 (e-5).

Cuase you aren't seen as just a "Blueshirt"

Anyway, closest thing I have come to that, was flying in a 60, over Bande Ache9I have no idea how to spell it), after the Tsumani.. I took some video of it..after dropping supplies, the pilots, were doing...ACM's through the valleys on teh way back to deck...cool..but...

Never been in anything with an afterburner...need to find a way to scam that one...

I got a tour today of MCAS Miramar with my son and a bunch of his schoolmates (father/son day). We got to climb all over a FA/18 and got a tour of the facilities where they teach the pilots survival techniques, medical stuff, ejection procedures, decompression, G's stuff, water survival, etc. Looked to me like those pilots get worked over pretty good.

But yea, I wish I could've done it. I was going to try to be a naval pilot, was real close to getting a naval ROTC scholarship, but washed out in the physical because I'm mildly colorblind. Oh well, I would have made a lousy naval officer anyway.

I installed the a/c for the computers that were going to run the Apache flight sim at Deal's Gap.

They let me and my buddy play in the cobra sim when the job was done. That was fun, but nothing
like a catapult launch, "high performance" flight, and arresting wire recovery.

Fighter jets have it all over the rotary wings when it comes to body crushing G's and high speed
acrobatics. Nothing against the snake pilots, it just doesn't come close. I am open to any
offers to convince me otherwise though! I'd love a ride in an apache or comanche.

Depends on the pilot!
