I guess I thought it was time for some down time. Today at the Blessing of the bikes, we went to MO-KAN Dragway to watch the Funny Bike, Open Class and all Harley Street Bike Shootout. I ran a couple of fun runs.

1st Run:ME-----------------/Other guy CBR RR 1000
Reaction Time---.4092------/-----.3164
1/4 ET----------12.7341@102.86/--15.7676@128.94
Winner by 2.9407

2nd Run:ME------------------/Other guy V-Max
R.T.-----.7428--------------/---.4861
1/4 ET----12.4130@108.04----/11.7482@116.91
Loser by .9215

I figured, Hell, I ran pretty well, surely well enough to run against the Harley Guys in the Shootout and beat most. Went out to do a practice run, went up against a Harley with a wheelie bar, pre-staged, staged, pull in the clutch, ever so slightly, gave it some throttle, gave it a little more throttle, DUMPED the clutch and back and DOWN I went in front of at least a thousand spectators. Talk about a humbling experience. Called H-D Cycle-Connection, they came back and picked me up, EXCELLENT people.

Damage report:
Severely bent handlebars, broken shifter peg, footpeg, bent frame (where it landed anyway) broken tail section (including new Fender Eliminator kit from Iron Machine), bent seat. Last, but not least, my formerly intact pride.

Possibly a total loss, at least what the mechanic thinks. If so, I think I'll be bikeless until I can buy another one, which won't happen because I can't afford a different one. I may just try to keep the bike and get some take-offs from people on here and Badweb.

Glad to hear it was only your pride that got injured.
the bike can be fixed or replaced, even if it takes a while.

That sucks. Don't report it to the insurance company whatever you do. Just fix it best you can and ride it. The insurance company won't help you anyway.

Too late. It doesn't matter either way. If they don't help me, I still will have to fix it myself.

On the bright side...

You beat a CBR 1000.

co,
glad to hear your ok, crashing sucks! no other way to put it.
other than the dented frame it sounds like easily repairable damage. is the frame bent/dented at it's wide point? would new frame pucks cover it up?
most buell parts are inexpensive so other than the frame dent you should be back up in no time.

had an idea about your buell/blues festival in september, might be cool to drop an email to peter eagan at cycle world. seems he enjoys traveling on a ulysseys "best seat ever put on a motorcycle" and is a huge blues fan. i'm sure a certain anonymous person could arrange a loaner for a few day's! positive press must move bikes!

line me off ping, Mike. My local Sponsor is taking me, and several other people to Homecoming and to dinner with Mr. Buell and Flickinger, don't know if it is a one on one, but if I can get him for a few minutes maybe we can work something out for a few things.

I KNOW Buell has a policy where you can send YOUR frame back to the factory and they'll stamp your current serial# on a new frame and return it.And i'm sure the cost isn't as excessive as you'd think.Consider that as a possibility. It CAN be fixed, just be prepared for some serious wrenching.

Thanks for the kind words on ATC, Duc, and I can save a lot of wrenching by placing frame pucks on 'er
