Dave: Send Dave Gess one on my card. . . and enclose an "endorsement agreement" wherein payment is predicated on him sending me a photo of him in the hat and shirt. Am I crazy. . . I mean, am I the ONLY one who thinks this MUST be the official hat of HOMECOMING 2006. Face it, Buell fashions, with the possible exception of the factory gear I've nabbed and the BUELL RACING shirts, have been pretty pedestrian the last couple years. The PINK HAT is the bomb. I say we adopt it as the offical HOMECOMING 2006 ELF HEADGEAR. I'd order a LOT more if I were you . . . |

Court, Face it, Buell fashions, with the possible exception of the factory gear I've nabbed and the BUELL RACING shirts, have been pretty pedestrian the last couple years. I couldn't have put it any better than you have! Looking back at all the TOTALLY FREAKIN' COOL Buell shirts I have from the 1994-2000 era (and even the old company stuff, too) and comparing it to what is available today depresses me that the 'modern' Buell rider has such a dire selection of Buell attire. Sure the stuff nowadays is cool, but the tube frame era saw some TOTALLY FREAKIN' COOL Buell shirts! As for the pink hat, I'm not too keen on it, but then again it would match the (not so funny) gag birthday gift I got from Monday night a couple of wild women that I have been known to go to the bar with quite often lately...
And, NO, Court, you won't be seeing a picture of me in the pink hat and pink panties! Although I bet I could make a pretty penny having people pay me NOT to model them... 1313 |

Brankin: Right you are. There is, in my own mind, no more salient evidence of the "corporate reins" on Buell than having the Harley-Davidson GM (General Merchandise) folks responsible for Buell apparel. They are nice folks, completely disconnected with Buell owners and what they want. There was a time, mid Mike Hilman era, that Buell fashions were the BOMB. I still have many unopened S-2 shirts, the long sleeve blue one, the famed "fairing shirts" and the "fade away" Buell shirts that Buell made and sent me 500 of to distribute on my journey circumnavigating the USA. A couple years later we really got on a roll that crescendo'd to the shirt with the picture of my brother wheelying a red S-1..yes, it was a REAL picture. In fact, the day Ferris met Erik for the first time, he can attest to the little stunt my brother Howard and I pulled on Erik. Buell fashions need a serious shot of adrenaline. I think the mindset is in place to accept constructive comments and implement change. Court By the way...guess what I found the other day?...you guessed it a genuine 1995 LAP OF AMERICA t-shirt! |

Say what you want about pink. I was out tie shopping once and the salesman shows me a pink tie and says "when I wear this one, women tell me I look nice." So I bought one and sure enough he was right. When I wore it women would stop me and tell me they liked it. When I didn't no one ever said anything. I wore it a lot. |

here's a very cool collection of Buell classics from over the years: In fact, the day Ferris met Erik for the first time, he can attest to the little stunt my brother Howard and I pulled on Erik. i'm pretty sure Erik is STILL shaking his head over that one.

So Court, what are you going to do with all those unopened shirts? Are they for sale? We're always looking for a good Buell shirt and the long sleeve ones are hard to find. Just thought I'd ask, the worst that can happen is "no". Kristi |

Actually.....they got me in trouble at home a while back. There are, quite literally, cases of Buell shirts from the last 20 years accumulated and my wife finally put her size 6 foot down. She washed all the the ones that had been worn and then bought 24 of those "sucke'em with a vacuum and shrink'em down" plastic bags. They are now all hermetically sealed and I'm thinking I'll do the quilt thing when I find someone who does that, great way to display them. A few of the best Buell shirts ever made were long sleeve. One of the best was the S-2 wrap around. It, like the S-2 itself, looked like it cost a lot more to produce that it was selling for. My other favorite long sleeve was from 1997 and it was a very WARM black mock turtle pullover with a small Pegasus on the collar and a very understated BUELL on it. Erik and I got clad in these, you guessed it, at the San Antonio dealer meeting where they were introduced....in 100o weather. There are, if you are interested, some hyper-cool TEAM ELVES shirts and we're going to clear out the old TEAM ELVES stock soon to make room for an upcoming undertaking! Stay tuned! |

Court - Sounds like a thread to watch for. Maybe you'll unload your stock like Daves did! BTW, Daves, that was pretty good selling! You could post a new product each day and just keep filling our boxes until full and then ship it! It would take our local dealer 6 months to move those 6 hats and you did it in just a few hours. Good marketing to the right crowd! Kristi |

Dave: My hat has not arrived yet. Look Bub. . . I am part of the "it's all about me and I want it now generation". You have TOO GOOD of a reputation. I typed my request, hit "post this message" and turned around looking for the hat. That's what happens. . . when you are good.....VERY GOOD! I see no reason why you couldn't sell 100 of those hats. Let me know if you need me to show you how.

My other favorite long sleeve was from 1997 and it was a very WARM black mock turtle pullover with a small Pegasus on the collar and a very understated BUELL on it. That is my favorite Buell shirt from a purely functional standpoint. It is great for layering as it is very thin, yet keeps you very warm. I think my shirt, which my Mom was nice enough to patch up a hole in when I was home for Christmas this last year, has been with me on EVERY motorcycle journey I've been on since that shirt came out. I wish I would've bought a large quantity of those when they were new... 1313 |
