I have the Chatterbox GMRS X1 (top of the line) I HATE IT! I agree with Ducxl. Worked fine when I got it but has been problematic. First it had to go back for a non charging issue, second it had to go back for a "bad connection". I will sell my whole set up CHEAP! This product is CRAP! I used mine for music and also tried to plug in my radar detector (did not work, CB swore it would). I wear a full face helmet so comms between me and my side of bitch salad was cool when it worked and VERY frustrating when it didn't work. To clarify, Bluetooth is a short range communications platform. Not made to go from bike to bike, but from device to device (like cellphone to ear piece). I would suggest ANYTHING other than Crapperbox!
Man I have been waiting for someone to ask!

Thin_air - in the interest of constructive input, would you care to elaborate? 'non-charging' can cover anything from a bad battery pack, to vibration damage, and 'bad connection' everything from incorrect user installation, to dirt in the connectors, or water damage....

as for the RD - what model & what conflict? was it RD to cahtterbox, or a 3 way conflict between the rd, music, and intercom?

I was thinking the other day how nice it is to be alone with myself, which is one of the reasons I like to ride.
My problem is that I'm a Gemini - we're never alone.

Another vote for Autocom as audio centerpiece. Wife and I use Autocoms with Garmin Rino GMRS (and primitive GPS) for bike-to-bike, plus intercom when the kid's riding with me. Autocom VOX works well when mic is positioned correctly, good audio quality for music (we use XM radios).

Don't waste money & time with cheaper systems... buy Autocom or better if you want to do more than hand signals.

Just out of curiosity.. What is 'better' then Autocom? Everything I've heard so far says they are the top of the heap. Is there a system that's better that's available to the public?

I'm sure some of the police bike systems would be really good as well.. but.. I'm not so sure about begin able to get them, let alone make them work right.

I haven't had a chance to try the autocom, but I can tell you from 2 years of use of the collett communicators, that I can't imagine what "better" would be.

"Just out of curiosity.. What is 'better' then [sic] Autocom?"

*haven't tried Baehr myself, but by reputation it's world class... if more expensive is "better", then try Baehr.

http://www.starcom1.com/
*our moto road trip friends use StarCom for two-up intercom, music, and bike-to-bike via FRS/GMRS with us... they report great performance and no fuss.

*J&M's new Integrator looks interesting, but they sure don't price themselves as a cheap option! J&M headsets are pretty solid equipment... biased towards Goldwing and Harley bagger folks.

Can't claim any experience with Collett as per other comments above. I'm NOT a fan of the "helmet wart" comms gizmos.

My Chatterbox units work great. Took a minute to set up and figure out the sensitivity adjustment, all peachy from there.

I have the Collett Platinum 900 system. I have nothing but positive things to say about it. It's a great product. Put it on your helmet and go.
