trek

I am just getting into this, I think it will hugely improve my riding, and keep me healthy too. Are there a lot of you out there that ride bicycles too? I know Terry in Lake Elsinore (awesome host of the last SCAB ride out here) does. Seeing his tricked out carbon fiber bike is what got me thinking about this. Thanks a lot bro- I cant afford this!
A bunch of the racers at Laguna Seca last year were riding the track on road bikes.

I love riding mountain bikes. I got started a long time ago on cross country bikes like yours but I now I mainly just mess around with downhill bikes.

Sweet bike. Be safe on it. Wear a helmet.

Thanks! The first things I bought were a helmet and a Camel-back. I love those downhill bikes, I need to win the lottery!!!

I think of Campagnolo much the same way as I think of Buell, the best products produced by people with a passion for creating the best.
I am looking forward to the annual Lake Okeechobee Lark (120 miles) bicycle ride later this year, going to try to beat my 6 hour time...................

Funny this topic should come up. I've been looking at reviving my riding interests also (perhaps subconsciously inspired after seeing Terry's CF bike).

Anyway, I currently have a road bike and a mountain bike, but I’m looking for a new ride. I find my interests in the type of riding I want to do seem to mirror my Motorcycle riding style choices. I find the road bike just isn’t comfortable for me any more, and while the mountain bike fits like a glove, it just doesn't have the top end speed I want.

So I've started looking at hybrids - specifically mountain bike geometry with road bike gearing (and wheels)

I’m currently still shopping around, but so far on my short list is;

Cannondale Road warrior 1000

Specialized Sirrus Pro

And, if money was no object…

Bianchi Camaleonte 3

One of the rides I plan on doing this year in September is the Rosarito-Ensenada 50mile bike ride. I’ve done this event several times in the past, and it really is a lot of fun.

Seems in the past few years, work has become all too consuming and I’ve lost sight of some of the things that are important to me – cycling being one. Hopefully with the weather clearing up, and a new bicycle that fits my current riding style, I can pick up where I left off - at the same time get my weight back down to where it should be.

Enjoy your new ride Shawn

Cheers
-Jack

Rhino, I used to put slics and a single speed chain conversion on my Rocky Mountain MTB and pedal my a-- up sandia peak outside of Alb, NM every so often. you could even buy a nice set of wheels, and two big chain rings if you got enough frame clearance. Check out Independant fab

cool stuff but pricey...

I've been road racing for a long time in NC,SC,VA,TN, and GA. I currently ride about 7-9000 miles a year. I've raced four times this Spring. Love the hard groups rides a couple of times a week. I'm also a USA Cycling Official and have done quite of bit of moto-refereeing. It will keep ya fit it you have the time as it takes substantially more time than running. My favorite races these days are criteriums, about and hour on a fast, technical course. Love being in a 70 guy pack inches apart at race pace.
