Buell would, indeed, be an awesome place to work. Lots of high caliber engineers and other great thinkers there. I've thought of applying there, but am committed to the work I am doing with Deere at the time, and also just started grad school, so no dice for a few years. I'm yet young though. Will, My advice to you is decide what career path you want to take and who you want to work for, and do whatever is necessary to achieve it. By all means apply, and dig around a bit. hell we should team up.. i have over 10 years of experience. just no paper to back it up.. a company grabbed me up after high school and i have been inventing, drafting, and then making their electronic component machines for them ever since,, and my motorcycle parts at night!!!!! some of you guy have probably seen some of my posted projects here.. this is more normal work stuff  | ||

Dr. Mr. Freak, GO FOR IT. I have NO FORMAL sales experience, sure, I have sold a couple cars, a couple tires, I sent in a resume for a sales position at a new Harley/Buell dealer in my area, told some people about it and was told about a second dealer who has an opening, no, not a formal job offer, but a somewhat of an offer nonetheless, so go for it, who cares if they say no, there may be another job there that might do you better. Tq, John Deere indeed. I started with Deere when I was 19 as a co-op, a ripe old 25 now as an engineer. I've learned lots there in my few short years, plenty more to go. Ask some of the old 'uns that knew me as a young pup. They are an excellent company to work for- a great range of products, lot of new and innovative ideas and products and a very global company that doesn't just build combines. I'll be shooting you a PM shortly, be sure to check on that. I can tell you that I do see Erik a few times a year, and I'll be damned if I don't sell him a skid steer one of these times... Worst part is he always wants to know what WE are coming out with... The factory is a few short hours away. Alex | ||

Hey, I ain't no engineer, but I do have BS and a lot of it! Talk about experience, I have 64 years of it! If needed I could engineer a broom for ya. I could be one great parts driver for ya. I do do windows (and Mac). Where do I send my resume? Would I have to relocate? All kidding aside, if I were in the job market, I certainly would be looking at position with either Buell or Harley. I am sure they are both good companies to work for. | ||

Aaron; as usual, beautiful stuff. There's something to be said for practical experience. Couldn't hurt to send off your resume. There'd might be a spot somewhere in the skunk works for someone that, like you, can whip a nice, functioning part out of a block of aluminum. Henrik | ||

I'm tempted to send a resume in too. I've got an EE not an ME degree, so I'm probably not what they are looking for, but who knows. But seriously, if anyone is thinking about applying, remember this. All places have their problems. Thats why they need to hire you. To help them fix their problems. The last thing you want to do is go work for Buell because you love their bikes, and end up not being able to enjoy riding them anymore because it's too much like work. Not saying it will end up like that, just something to keep in mind. | ||
