Good meeting you today Nick. Wish I could say my trip back was uneventful. While on a back road my low beam head light just blew. It went really bright at first and then nothing. So, I switch to my high beam. Was the same as the low beam. Really bright and then it blew. Had to stop at a gas station and think about my next move. I was only 5 miles from your house, but decided I needed to get home to feed that animals and let the dog out. So, $6 later I had a flash light, batteries and duct tape. Note for everyone. We all say to have tools on a trip, yes? I say always have a flash light too. You never know what could happen.

Anyways, I'm glad I had my tank bag. Gave me a great place to tape the flash light too. It wasn't to bright, but it got my home.

I checked the lighting and can find nothing wrong. I checked the voltage and amps through a good bulb. I even checked the voltage going to the battery while the engine was running. 14.4 volts. All seems ok. I don't think the voltage regulator is going otherwise I would think it would show through the battery. Battery's volts while the bike is off is around 12.68. All seems to check out. I think the bulbs I got were bad. They were the Phillips blue ones. Groan...

From someone who's been there, good to see you in good spirits. Finding a wonderful partner is an amazing thing. I met my girlfriend at the pub where I work. I bounced her. It was after closing, and I told her and her friend it was time to go. She had just been dumped, and was feeling a little anti-man. She turned around and said "What are ya gonna do, bounce me?" So I picked her up and headed towards the door. She hasn't let go yet.

Nick,
Very glad to hear you in such good spirits.
What others have said is right,,, Sammie is a GEM!
I really wish I could have made to the trip to Daytona this year.
It would have been very neat to meet both of you and the rest of the hooligan gang that about to show up at your door step.

Hang in there, keep up the good progress!
Just wait till you meet your rehab therapist.
If you hate them, that only means they are pushing you doing it right!

Holy crap....

I've been ignoring the Daytona threads 'cause I was not gonna be able to be there. I missed the WHOLE thing about Nick.

Nick - hang onto that there woman. Stuff like this serves either to test a weak relationship or strengthen a strong one. Looks like you and Sammie are in the latter category.

There's just one thing I don't really get... How does a guy named VegasBueller wind up in Florida?

Please take care and persevere.

Nick,
Glad your doing much better, I talked to Sammie the other day and I'll try to give you a call tomorrow to see how your doing.
Can't wait to meet both of you.
Ken

First things first!!! Big accomplishment today! I managed to get from the bed to the wheelchair with just a little help from Sammie and Crusty. This is the first time I have been anywhere but bed in two weeks! I managed to raise my arms high enough to get my first hug in almost 3 weeks. I am backk in bed now and worn out, but i did stay in the chair almost 3 hours! I got to go to the back portch too. What a day! I get the staples out on Wednesday!
Now...
Saro: Sammie is a Vegas native. We lived there for 5 years and that is when I bought the Buell. I am a Vegas nut. My airline transferred us to Florida 8 months ago.
Ken: We're ready!
Mike: I got the flags and Lafayette has put them up around the pool area. They look great!
Brad: I have the feeling this could become an annual event, so there is always next year. That being annual minus the body breakage!
Olddog: Thanks man!
Raven: Ya know when it's right don't you. It just works without any effort and things just click. Congrats on your find as well.
Cataract: Sorry to hear that buddy. At any rate it was great to meet you and I sure enjoyed the company.

Crusty came by and spent most of the day with us. He did a little painting for Sammie and a few other things. What a great guy!

Once again to all of you: Thanks for all the well wishes and kind words! It means the world to me.

Nick

Vegas,

I didn't learn of your accident until last night when I happened into the Daytona thread. I must say that I was impressed by Sammie's apparent handling of what has to be a very difficult time for the both of you. I hope everything heals up soon.

"I would never imagined this kind of love and devotion when we met on the internet 6 years ago!"

I can definitely relate to that. I downloaded my wife from the net almost 8 years ago. I came out of a psychotic marriage as a single dad in the Air Force with no hope of ever meeting up with anybody decent. I had a 4-year-old little boy at the time (he's 13 now) and a 12-hour-a-day job flying around in the back of helicopters. Luckily, I discovered the Internet and was able to trick this girl who had just graduated college and was in grad school into thinking I am normal.

We met online in August '97, met in person in September several hundred emails later, got engaged in December and were married in May '98. We now have three kids, an orange cat and a yellow lab.

Every girl I met (mostly Hooter's waitresses that thought my son was cute and that I must be sensitive and caring) and dated before meeting my wife online was a gargantuan disappointment.

LOL - Didn't your momma tell you not to date Hooters waitresses?

Vegas, all is well now with the headlights. Just a simple set of crappy bulbs it seems. Anyways, I'll be back up there on sat. to watch the races and will stay after for the party.

Glad to see you got out of bed finally, can't wait to see you in your chair moving about this sat. Just take it easy though, don't need to hurt yourself before then.

I was a slow learner during my Hooter's phase. My son and I ate out a lot in those days. I only hope he picked up on that lesson.

Come to think of it, I will never forget sitting in the pastor's smartly appointed office in one of the nicest Churches in Albuquerque with my then fiance and my young son. The (female) pastor suggested we all go somewhere for lunch to finalize the wedding plans and finish up the pre-marital counseling thing. She knelt down to my innocent, sweet little boy who had behaved very well throughout and said, "And where would you like to go for lunch, little guy?"

Yep, he yelled out, "Hoooooters!!!"

Uh Nick. . . let me get this straight.

You *THINK* you are better because you were able to leap from a wheelchair and hug Crusty before you and he hopped back into bed after smelling paint.

This is serious. I didn't realize you'd hit your head so smartly.

Stay where you are, right there in the chair, don't turn your back to Crusty, trust your wife and I'll be there in a couple days to save you.

This is no longer a pleasure trip, this is now a MISSION OF MERCY!

: )

Gads. . . we shoulda known better than to send Crusty in to do the advance duties!

Nick, My wife's been bugging me as to what clothes to bring. I've been to bike week when its been in the 40's and also in the 90's. How's the weather looking for this weekend? The weather channel (if you can believe them) is predicting highs in the 80's.

Weather's fine. You might need a heavier coat for riding but that's about it. Shorts and a T-shirt are all you need for walking.

Here's the 5 day weather forecast for Daytona for you.

Court: Ohhh my ribs are killing me! Now I have to wipe the tears! Come on Court, save me!

The weather has been beautiful! They are saying mid 80's for the weekend. Like cataract said, it is cool at night so bring some warm gear for that. I was still wearing my longjohns for night riding.

Ebear: No need to worry...There is still some work to do. I think Sammie needed a blind hung and some trim painted in the dining room. Just get here and hang out!
Man I can hardly wait for you all to get here! I just got off the phone with Blake, and it seems the enthusiasm and excitement still continues to grow.

"Ohhh my ribs are killing me!"

After that ordeal, if your ribs are what is most bothering you, then, well, Crusty must really "care" for you.
