If I can get the file to upload you'll be reading the best road test ever written of the Neval MT 12 Combo. This is the Combo with drive to the sidecar wheel.

You may be more familiar with the names Ural, Dneiper or even Cossack, possibly. Neval is the name these later Russian machines were given in the UK. Neville Mason and Alan Voase ( Nev - Al ) the two Yorkshire folk that imported and sold them into the UK, hence Neval.

This road test is taken from a fanzine 'On Yer Bike' circa 1979 / 80. Sadly it is no longer in print.

If the attachment doesn't upload I'll zip it to Blake.

Enjoy.

Rocket, I drive a 2wd Neval MT12 with a BMW motor. It is an awsome bike, if you don't mind cruising at a leisurly 55 mph. The Russian piece of crap motor went through a set of pistons, two cams and a set of rocker arms in 2700 miles (the bike is an '83, I'm the second owner, bought it with 1500 miles on the clock). I figure my first 1200 miles cost me about $4 a mile, not counting the cost of the bike. The rig has been trouble free since I put the BMW motor in, in Oct. '04.

Well, if Blake puts up the road test you'll enjoy the read.

I'm envious of your BMW MT 12. As you know, it will go anywhere. If yours is an 84 model Neval my mate Dave Skelly will have put it together out of the crate.

Rocket, I thought my rig was the MT12, but my rig came with the ohv motor. It is 2wd. I wish it had had the flathead. The russian ohv 650 motor was the worst piece of poorly assembled, ill fitting parts ever, hence the BMW motor swap. My rig is registered as a 1983, sold in 84.

As far as I remember it was a 12 if it was two wheel drive, and a 10 if it wasn't.

Is yours a genuine Neval? If so it will have come to you via Leven in East Yorkshire, and my mate Dave Skelly would have built it up out of the crate it left Russia in. That's unless Nevals exported it unassembled, which I doubt.
