i havent been on the bad web in a long time but i just wanted to say hey to every one. I am still not yet on a buell again. But I have been riding my 2001 ninja zx9r until my motor blew about 3 weeks ago. i am now riding with a motor cycle club called SWAT. I am in the process of rebuilding my ninja though it will no longer be a corner bike when finished with it. I am planning on buying a new bike though i regret to say it probly wont be a buell because i feel that the buells as much as love them just cant go fast enuff for me. I have found that i can hold speeds in corners on other bikes that exceed the top speed of a buell. If and when buell makes a bike that can reach speeds of other sports bikes then i will be on one again. I have recently seen that they have built one but they are only makeing 50 and they are selling for $31,000 so its not likley that i will own one of them. but i do still love everything about the buell except the power out put.

This kind of shit always cracks me up. I reckon you are talking about racing on a track. Right? Otherwise, how fast do you need a bike to be? A Buell can put you in jail, a hospital and/or the grave just as fast as any Jap bike.

A buddy of mine is awaiting delivery of his '06 R6. This will be his third Jap bike in two years. He does not race, but he reads a lot of racing magazine articles and watches Speed Channel. He also likes to brag about his bike being faster than mine. Whatever floats your boat I suppose. I have asked him why he changes bikes so often and he says he gets bored with them. He won't test ride a Buell. I think it's because he is afraid he might like it and have to give up his bragging position.

you got me mis understood i have owned a buell i loved it best handleing bike i have ever ridden. but it tops out at 130mph.
i have taken corners at 130 on my zx9r and so for that reason i just cant see owning a bike that i can out perform. That is the only problem i have with buells. i love the look i love the handeling, i love the torque and i love the fact that its made in amreica. so when they can reach my skill leavels ill be back on one untill then i cant see spending $11,000 for a bike when i can run harder and faster on a bike i paid $4,000 for

I understand. I just don't relate because I can't think of a time where I needed to take a corner at more than 75-80; let alone 130 mph. Then again, I don't race. I just see no practical use for a bike that can take a corner at 130 for any price.

The way I see it, if you want to race, buy a race bike and go to the track. If you want a daily driver that handles like a race bike, but that you can ride all day long, buy a Buell.

I have this discussion with my Dad all the time. He is forever talking up the speed and quickness of his FZ-1. I tell him, "It must be great at the track." He has never done a track day in his life. So, what does he do with 140 RWHP? He brags about it to whoever wants to listen.

Riding at 130 mph on the street is foolish. For your own safety and that of others, please take it to the track if you cannot enjoy riding without pushing the bike to its limits.

Also, if you've never ridden/raced on a closed course race track, then there is likely no way your "skill level" is anywhere near what a Buell motorcycle will support, not even close, meaning that it takes virtually ZERO skill to twist the throttle.

Have fun on your hyperbike crotch rocket repli-racer. I hope you never need to maneuver quickly while leaned over in a turn at triple digits on a public road. High speed blunt body impact is sucky. I speak from personal experience, one week in the hospital with tubes sticking out of me all over the place, lots of pain, and long rigorous rehabilitation and a permanently rearranged right shoulder.

Please learn from my foolishness. Catheters and chest tubes are sucky.

i have been to the track a few times. look im not saying anything bad about buells i love them just as much as i have all my life but at this time i dont feel i can justify owning one untill they acheave what im looking for. The only bike i have found and as soon as i will have one is the rc51 cuz its still a twin it hadles relitivly well and it will still reach the speeds i am looking for. if i could aford 3 bikes then my third bike would be a buell but im streaching my pokets right now to buy me a second bike

im not trying to argue with anyone or trying to downgrade buells in anyway they are modern works of art and everything on the bikes work great but there is a time were you have to take a look at the 20 year old power plant and relize there has to be a way to make it faster for the more demading riders that demand the horse paower and speed

I'd like to see the turn on a public road that you did 130mph with street tires. Must have been one LOOOOOOONNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG sweeping turn. I'd hate to see you after the head on collision. I know you aren't putting down Buells, and even if you were, you have that right. But 130mph?? Come on now, that's just silly!

Turn 8 at Willow Springs is like no other in this country without banking. Dang near 1000 foot radius and freeway-like in its feel.

130 is a normal speed, the fast guys do 160 with a knee on the ground. Rapp was sliding at about 170 on his Ducati when he set the lap record.

I wonder why this thread was started in the first place by somebody who won't own a Buell again because of what it doesn't do for them. As you said, "to each his own." Given that sentiment, this just smells like trolling.

Maybe I should post on the Suzuki SV boards about why I don't run an SV on the street or track any longer (even though I think it's still a really cool bike - seriously) - and I may still race a borrowed SV from time to time.

Except for the obvious troll-value, what was the point? (or did I miss something) - I'm pretty dense when trying to catch subtleties in other people's postings.

there are some fast riders around here alot faster than me. I know a kid on a gsxr 750 and this is no bs holds 140 in curves you can belive me or not but this kid is one of the fastest i have ever seen and i would never even come close to hanging with him if i was on a buell.

I enjoy living too much to be jealous of going 130 mph on a Texas Farm Road. 130 mph down the straights at Texas Motor Speedway would make me jealous.
