OK....

Ya know, I can't blame anyone about this one but me. Refs made every call count, the ones that were close were doublechecked. I might of taken back that TD from Big Ben, but it still wouldn't a mattered. I stuck my foot in my mouth on this thread....lol. Maybe that nagging feeling I had was from the Hawks winning NEXT year's Super Bowl.

Wade,
It's all good, we needed a Superbowl thread anyway!

Please keep me posted with your plans to pick up a certain toy when you hit these shores again. Your pop and I talked a bit about it before Christmas, I'm up for a trip to put a name with a face, knock down a few brews and thank you for your service.

Ferris,
I know ya couldn't. Another reason why I'm not a moderator...

Jerry, we all need practice. I'm your huckleberry.

That was an awesome game. Seattle just couldn't stop choking after they moved the ball really well, and they called some bad plays. The Steelers were hungrier, were coached better, and their defense seemed to play their best game of the season. I think the officials did their level best. The questionable TD looked to me like the ball broke the plane just before he got hit. He got hit and the ball was shoved back under him and then he landed on it. I think that was what the playback must have shown.

The one that got called back on Seattle was the more controversial of the two for me, but the push off was there even though it was rather weak. It wasn't incidental contact.

I just wish it had been Dallas there instead of Pittsburg.

I don't know when the Superbowl stopped being so important to me, but I was indifferent. I did homework instead...

As for officiating, my coach always told us that if we didn't make it cut and dry we deserved to lose. How's that for esteem building!!!

Go Rams?

GO STEELERS!!!
Erik looks like he was showing his western PA. pride by adding the Steelers' colors to the XBRR. The Steelers were always and still are a team of selfless hard working class act players. It's been a long 26 years since I felt this way. I'm glad that I was able to share this with my children this time around.
GO STEELERS!!!

Wow! I can't believe Hines Ward got the MVP. I thought it was supposed to go to the person who made the biggest impact on the game, the officials. Usually, bad calls tend to balance out, but I can't recall the Steelers ever having a bad call on them. Seahawks lost out on 11 of 14 possible points on questionable calls. I had a hard time watching this in front of my kids cause the Seahawks were getting screwed so bad it was pornographic.

Sorry for the rant, I've been surrounded by estrogen all day.
Good job to the Steelers for making the big plays and for "The Bus" getting his ring in his final year.

CB, i echo yours and Skyguy's comments - up until yesterday morning i didn't even know who made it to the Super Bowl, and wouldn't have pulled away from work to watch any of it except that the Seahawks - a sentimental favorite since i was born and raised up there - were playing.

i worked for the first half, then unplugged long enough to catch most of the second half.

i'm happy for the Steelers - i've always liked them as a team. hopefully the Hawks can rebound from this and get there again.

Having been a Seahawks fan since being stationed in Seattle in the 70's I was happy they finally made it to the super bowl. Hey I'm also a patriots fan as well and we know that good things happen for those who are patient. They may not have won but they were in it. Thats more than lots of other teams can say.

I just got a nagging feeling that the Steelers are 'bout to get hammered. So all you "terrible towel" wavers might as well not even watch, because:

This "terrible towel" waver enjoyed the entire season and seeing Pitts go to the superbowl and win was a great way to end my football season !!

I watched, too bad, so sad, seahawks !!

WAY TO GO STEELERS !!!!!!!!!!!

It's so awesome that you can say that. I hope that I can have a livelyhood someday that allows me to plug in and unplug as needed LOL!

Sometimes I'd love to just "unplug", awesome!

Weren't the Steelers the lowest wild card team to make it to the big game? I was thinking that coming up to the playoffs it was either them or my Chiefs.
Underdogs are always fun.

As an uninterested non US resident I've been very intrigued to note that on this board there seems to have been more interest in the commercials during the game, than the game itself.

Just an observation from afar.

Ceej -- once again, your engagement with the even had more to do with young men in tight britches than you might admit ;-}

it was a bit unusual for the SBowl, though -- it was actually a fairly good game, from the what I saw (last 1/4)

just watched an inverview on ESPN... the head of NFL coaching came on to say that two specific calls which were made on the field were flat out wrong... would have changed the game by 14 points....

Hummm.... how many did Seattle loose by....

Just reminds me again why professional football sucks. For god's sake... let the players play the game.

I guess I'll watch for the commercials next year, and watch college games for good playing. Go Wolf Pack!

The Steelers had a few bad calls against them during the Playoffs. Troy's interception being overturned was the most blatant. Instead of letting this and the other calls getting the best of them; they kept their heads in the game and achieved their goal. Even when Ben had problems he adjusted when many others under the same pressure have folded. The Seahawks never adjusted
to their obstacles. The refs weren't responsible for Seahawk's play calling or clock management.
Now that they have One For The Thumb it's time to work on the other hand.
Go STEELERS!!!

Bad calls are part of the game. They happen in every single game. The fact that the coach is blaming the officiating speaks volumes about his character or lack thereof.

Roll on baseball season, is what I say. A game I can understand, appreciate, & enjoy.

Even if I can't explain it to anyone in French.

We had friends staying during WS week a few years back & the guy stayed up one night to watch a game, by the time I'd explained the concept of the strike zone, I'd missed an entire inning!

Various people over the years have tried to interest me in American Football, but with no success, when they start trying to explain, I just get brain fade, they might as well be talking about international finance or reading a telephone directory!

Ah but Cricket, now there's a game..............

For god's sake... let the players play the game. Do you mean ignore any infractions of the rules of football, or only those by the Seahawks. And I'm pretty sure god has no interest in a football game.
