I prefer AVG, and like antivir it's free.

My son was running antivir, and ran into the same problem, rather than figure it out I had him switch to AVG, it's much better IMHO

I don't like anything to hog my PCs meager resources, so I don't use any sort of continual virus prevention. I just run ad-aware and trendmicro.com online virus scan periodically.

One of the computer techies at work turned me onto AVG after my last crash. Along with zonealarm firewall, it seems to be working great.
