Looking for something smaller than a stove, but not a Honda one that cost $1500. Mostly will be used for running a heater or fan, depending on the weather. Lights at night for those late night repair sessions, and Tire Warmers in the day. Anyone have any suggestions and info? They come with a 2 year warranty and cost many $$$$ less than Honda powered gennies. Also they offer a 5500 watt unit for arount $599 which should power all that you've listed. I got them for $900 each. That is the lowest price I could find. They are very quiet and are less than 55 lbs. each. Would not buy anything else. Old-school generators need to run at the same RPM all of the time to maintain a constant 60Hz. These new ones use an inverter to make the AC so the engines can run at any speed they want. You're able to gang them up like a little team too once inside it's DC   Slaughter Posted on Friday, February 03, 2006 - 06:49 am:        If you're REALLY trying to go cheap - I went to Kragen auto parts, picked up a ChiCom, no-name 3500W generator for $300. I have run as many as 3 sets of warmers on it. 2 sets and a crock pot of chili or soup for those mid-winter race days. It's also acceptably quiet. Most of those $500 generators are impossibly loud. If you pit with the same folks every time, split the costs and share a generator (that's what I do)
