Finally ended up going to the Willow Springs track, but knowing me I screwed up the date and came the week after the event that I wanted to attend...
But it was not a waste of time I discovered a new class of racing...
"Poor man's racing" a comical description of the class by one of the racers.
At first I was a little skeptical, for instance the Buell looked like a giant monster next to one of these tiny contraptions. The bikes where two stroke 50's 80's 125's and some of those "dirt bikes" with slicks. They were practicing on a go-kart track, at first it wasn't all too exciting. Once they warmed up it was actually quite fascinating to watch.

I even got to take a ride on one of them, they are so tiny and light (To tell you the truth I was scared). To this day I can't figure out how they manage to position themselves without their knees being right behind the handlebars.

I used to race a YSR50 I bought for $400 and put about $300 into. Most fun I've ever had. Used to do the go-kart circuit in SoCal.

Thats awesome... love to find a local track that does that. I'll pony up $1500 for a fun race bike.... Just can't wipe out, say, a $31,000 bike. Wife would kill me.

I always wanted to play with those little racers.

I love how spindly they look. (kinda like myself)

The YSRs were way cheaper used when they were still making them. Now they are more scarce and still raced all over the country, so they have gone way up in price.

This 125 was at the race school that rubberdown attended, but he was ther for track day. Guy was pushing about 230-240#. I bet he maxed at 125 on the straight. But the curves were highspeed, and his seat was prolly nomore than 18 inches off the track when in the upright position. In the curves was just scary, it was almost like he was laying on his side.

The other day I was searching for any of these smaller bikes and failed to find any new ones being made... I remember last year I was saw one on the honda site it was something like the NSR...
Are they really gone? Even Aprilia had it's final production run last year (if I remember right).

I was just over to North West Valley Honda in Phoenix (on Cave Creek Road). They have a 50cc road racer on the floor just begging to be sold.

Glad you asked...
Its the front fairing of my firebolt using a wide angle lens and a low angle.
Do you by any chance remember the price the honda was going for?

I want to say that little number had a price tag of about $5,000.00. I know that dealer is very motivated, it would probably sell for a lot less than that.
