Reading Letter From The Birmingham Jail gives me the same feeling as reading The Declaration Of Independence...truly one man who made our nation stronger and the world a better place.

I'm a big fan of MLK. His speeches still send chills down my spine.

He wasn't quite as popular in his own time. A PBS special last year showed a full page newspaper ad the NAACP took out condeming his actions. Seems they thought he was causing too much trouble. That was a BIG surprise.

I am also in awe of him. I feel that if he had lived the world would be a far better and different place. A great, great loss.

MLK and JFK would have changed the world even more had they not been stopped by a bullet. I can't help but think that if MLK lived we would not have near the issues with gangs and such. IF JFK lived we would not have Walmarts, call centers in India or any number of other social problems we currently face. Hell we might even have health care....

Some folks have protested privately the consolidation of Washington and Lincoln birthday holidays. But I'm OK with President's day and we celebrate 'em all.

MLK deserves his day and we ought to hail him as the final flourish on the founding fathers. He tied up an ugly loose end.
