I want something, but I need help getting it:

No, not a fuzzy pink XB. I want to know more about Karin Mairitsch. And hopefully I'm not the only one.

The problem is I don't speak German, and I have no idea if she speaks English. Here is my proposal.

Someone who does speak German contact her see if she would be willing to be "interviewed" on Badweb. If she speaks English, then she can just show up here and we can all talk. If she doesn't speak English, we can put together some questions, and our generous "someone who speaks German" will translate the conversation for us.

If we have to go the translation route, we can use the badweb voting thing to select the most interesting 10 questions to keep from overwhelming anyone.

Anyone like this idea? Anyone speak German (coughBigDaddycaugh) who wants to volunteer?

Hey Jim,

I'd be more than happy to help you with this, but I doubt it'll be necessary.

Dr. Mairitsch's English is probably better than ours ; )

Hey Guys,

If Bigdaddy is not available, I am fluent in German and would be happy to work on this project.

Meine Herrn.Wieder so eine Babelfisch Übersetzung.
Grauenhaft!
This translation is bottom quality!
Some parts make no sense at all.
Never use an automatic translation program.

..but just because the Krauts are very understanding people and own a great capacity for suffering.after 50 years of americanization.
But maybe just because they want to get your money

not really, xldevil. The EPA and DOT regulations make it hard for VW to import the good stuff into the American market.

For example VW has the worlds most fuel efficent car. A Lupo with a TDI engine, 70+mpg's. Note the word "worlds". When Honda sold the Insight it had to be marketed as "americas" most fuel efficent car. The 70mpg Lupo can't be imported into the US. EPA rules.

VW also as a nice all-wheel drive pd150 6-speed Golf. Thats a 150hp diesel engine with over 250ft'lbs of torque. Still gets 40mpg. With a simple chip the car can make 180hp and 320-350ft'lbs of torque. and still get 40mpg.

But here in America I can buy a 4 door 4 wheel drive 1-ton dually diesel truck that gets 12-15mpgs. Yet according the big brother that is OK. Just not a 70mpgs diesel car.

Greg & Mike,

Thanks for your offers. In the article I linked to, is there any information about how to contact her? Or do you know if hillbilly-motors sponsors her? Perhaps we could contact her through them? Any other other ideas for getting in touch with her?

Wish I could speak or read german considering I'm half german, but I can't. Got a christmas card from an aunt in germany this year and I couldn't even read it. I did finally get a friend of mine who knows some german to translate it for me, would have been cool if I could communicate with them more now that my mom is gone.

If you want something, go out and get it!

The very typical American motto, isn't it?

Wo ein Wille ist,da ist auch ein Weg!

CJ, Go for it!

Xldevil, Where are you from?

Mr_Grumpy, What kind of schnitzel would you like with your potatoes and beer(s?) (that's a joke! :-) .)

I spent many of my formative years feasting on Jager, but can also dig on Ziegeuner. I'll skip the oven roasted spuds and go straight to some Spaetzle,,,,,,getting hungry. Probably should go with pils too,,,,all that heffeweissen, and schnitzel, dude, we just consumed like 10,000 calories (but it was freaking awesome.)

BigD:I'm from Essen. The biggest city in the Ruhrgebiet area.
And of course, some, mostly old, germans like Schnitzel-Jäger or Zigeuner. But I had none for more than 20 years.I prefer Sushi, Chinese or Thai.
From time to time-not often- I drink ein oder zwei Glas Pils, but I don't like Hefeweizen.

Beside the fact that the american majority voted for Bush two times , I love America.I definetly would like to live somewhere in CA or Utah.

So, were have you been in Germany?
Ralph

Ralph,

Kennedyplatz und Weihnachtsfest - best mandelin!)

I was always a big fan of pils too -- Bitburger being my favorite, followed by many second place pils. Hefewiezen was always 'heavy' making me sehr mude und schlafrig. If I had to drink the weizen, while in Bavaria I'd go with the Konig Ludwig dunkel. Absolutely love all the schnitzels, but Jager is my favorite.

My mother's been very ill for nearly a year from a car crash, but if she continues to recover we'll be in/near Bitburg for family reunion in August.

PM incoming,,,,

Ok...I give up, who is she?

Click on the link in the first post of this thread and it will tell you something. Basically she is a doctor who XB9S into a dirt bike. This predates the Uly by at least a year, so at the time she did it, it wasn't as apparent that an XB could be a dirt bike.
